Is It Time for New Teeth? How To Know if You Need Dentures

Did you know that the chances of you needing dentures get higher each year? Although dentures are seen as a tool for the elderly, the truth is that many people might need dentures, even when they are young.

Keep reading to figure out if this is you, and learn what to do about it!

Do You Need Dentures?

Dentures are a set of false teeth that can be placed in your mouth to mimic your natural teeth. There are many different types of designs and uses, some medical and some cosmetic.

Most types of dentures are not permanently set inside your mouth and can be removed to help maintain proper dental hygiene.

Dentures are often an important way to give someone a new smile when they are having issues with their own.

Do You Have Tooth Loss?

Tooth loss is a common issue that affects millions of people around the world. Tooth loss can be caused by infections from poor oral hygiene, such as the lack of flossing.

Although it can be treated when caught in its early stages, sometimes, traumatic injuries such as accidents can lead to nerve or bone damage. This can prevent the teeth from reattaching, leading to irreversible tooth loss.

This can permanently affect your smile, as well as nerve cells around the area. If you have some teeth missing, dentures may be a good option.

There are many modern dentures benefits that can help, such as restoring a bright smile.

Do You Have Gum Disease?

Gum disease is a widespread issue that can be undetected in its early stages. It can lead to bone loss, as well as swollen, inflamed gums.

This is dangerous because it can cause the teeth to start to loosen or shift. Without treatment, this may cause the teeth to fall out at random times or over a period of time.

However, even with treatment, some teeth may be too damaged to remain in your mouth. Leaving them inside may lead to other tooth damage in surrounding areas.

What Types of Dentures Are There?

There are many types of dentures that are designed to suit your specific needs. The first type is traditional dentures, which cover your whole mouth. This is more common in the elderly that choose to have all their teeth removed.

Partial dentures are used to fill in the gaps when someone still has some of their original teeth. This is more commonly done for younger people, as they are more likely to retain their original teeth.

Another type of denture is snap-in dentures, which are hooked onto your surrounding teeth with dental implants or anchors. These may not be removable.

What Should You Do?

If you suspect that you have any of these issues, promptly get it taken care of. If you feel you might need dentures, there are many options to choose from. Most importantly, having a set of new teeth is always worth it!
