Is Hot Water Pressure Washing Better?

Suppose you’re planning on getting a pressure washer. In that case, you must be wondering which one would be better, hot water or cold-water pressure washer? Which one would be more efficient than, and why?

Does hot water make a pressure washer more efficient? As much as cold water pressure washers are the more common type, quality hot water pressure washers have also seen their popularity rise.

We always have room for a more efficient cleaning machine in our homes. Hence the reason most people would be willing to try out a hot water pressure washer if it is better.

But is it?

Let’s find out.

Cold Water Pressure Washing or Hot Water Pressure Washing?

As we have already said, cold water pressure washers are the more common of the two. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they are the better one.

There’s no denying cold water coupled with a suitable detergent will get rid of dirt on almost any surface. Such dirt will include sticky mud or maybe stripped paint. It comes in handy when you are washing a dusty car.

For all its efficiency, there are some situations where cold water pressure washing would struggle to be of any use. Picture this, utensils full of kitchen grease and cooking oil full in your sink waiting for a wash.

It makes more sense to wash them with hot water than with cold water in such a situation. The same applies to pressure washers as well. Hot water pressure washing is better than cold water pressure washing because it deals with certain types of grime.

Imagine washing the greasy and oily parts of an automotive. Grease and oil can’t come off that fast when you’re using cold water. That’s where hot water pressure washing steps in.

Therefore, what practically makes hot water pressure washing better is that it cleans faster and more efficiently than cold water.

However, that takes nothing away from cold water pressure washing, which is as efficient as it can get. However, you would be better off using a hot water pressure washer if you need a more versatile cleaner of dirt.

What Makes Hot Water Pressure Washing Better?

There are several reasons why choosing a hot water pressure washer would work in your favor.

Minimal Use of Detergents

If you have owned a pressure washer for some time, you must know that cold water alone can’t clean most surfaces as you’d want it to. That’s why most cold-water pressure washers require detergent or soap.

On the other hand, hot water pressure washers don’t require large amounts of detergent. Heated water removes germs easily without much help from detergents.

As a result, you’d use less detergent or soap with your hot water pressure washer.

It is gentler on overly delicate surfaces

There are some surfaces so delicate that any amount of scrubbing would damage their look. Such surfaces would also be damaged if washed with detergents or other cleaning agents.

It is for such surfaces that hot water comes in handy. Hot water would gently remove dirt and grime off surfaces gently without the need for detergent.

Germ Killing

Coldwater would get rid of grime off a surface, yes, but would it rid it of germs or any lurking pathogens? No. Coldwater gets rid of the dirt, and that’s it.

Hot water cleans off the dirt and kills germs that may be lurking on such surfaces.

Faster Cleaning

You can’t equate how fast, hot water would get rid of dirt with cold water. Water particles in hot water move faster than those in cold water. That is what makes hot water remove stains quickly.

You, therefore, get to clean for a shorter time with hot water than with cold water.

Is A Hot Water Pressure Washer More Preferable Then?

Not always. You can’t use hot water to clean some surfaces due to the damage you might cause. Plastic floors, for one, would get ruined if washed with hot water. For such, it would be best if you used cold water pressure washers.

Also, hot water pressure washers are more expensive than cold water washers. That is down to the simple fact that it would require a more advanced system to heat water.

However, if you are the type of person that loves protecting their environment, hot water pressure washers are for you. The limited use of detergents would protect the environment from the chemicals in detergents.

Parting Shot

We hope whatever we have discussed helps you make a decision on which pressure washer is better. Whether cold or hot water, it all boils down to what would best serve you.
