Industrial LED components: Your Industrial Lighting Solution

It is essential not to confuse light-emitting diodes (LED) with a light fixture or luminaire. Lighting fixtures comprise various components, including LED.

For industrial lighting solutions, there are different industrial led components available on the market today. It is also important to note that not all LED lights and parts are compatible.

Compared with conventional light sources, LED lighting offers many advantages, transforming the way we interact with light.

LED components play an increasingly crucial role in the lighting industry as LED technology continues to revolutionize the area.

LED lamps have four major components:

  1. an optic lens,
  2. a driver,
  3. a chip, and
  4. a heat-sink

LED chips emit light, drivers control current flow through LEDs, heat sinks exhaust heat away from LED chips, and lenses possess light characteristics.

The Industrial LED components for lighting solution

LED chips emit light. We attach the LED to a printed circuit board (PCB). One form of chip configuration is Chip on Board (COB) that creates a consistent beam pattern using a single LED chip on a PCB. There are multiple LED chips on the discrete PCB in this configuration.

Depending on the current, LEDs produce different amounts of light. Even the slightest variations in current can influence the light output.

LED drivers play a vital role in the quality of light and the lamp’s life. By using LEDs, it is possible to turn them on and off, dim them, and sometimes even change their color.

The LED driver also protects LEDs against voltage and current fluctuations. LED drivers of the latest generation are efficient, consume less energy, and come with built-in protection. LED drivers come in various types, such as constant voltage and constant current.

LEDs create internal heat at the junction. As well as affecting performance, LED junctions with high temperatures affect their lifespan, both short- and long-term. For the LED chip to continue to produce the desired light output, life, color, and brightness, heat must be removed.

Heat sinking poorly can affect both the lamp’s short- and long-term life. It can lower light output and cause a wavelength color shift.

To dissipate heat, the heat sink is necessary. We can do this by convection (by air) or conduction (by contact).

Metals are excellent conductors and are used to mount LEDs. LEDs convert some of the electricity they absorb into light and some into heat. Heat reduces a module’s efficiency.

Optics collects and redistributes the LED lamp’s light. Light is dispersed with the help of a lens.

To reduce the risk of breaking, they usually make these plastics. Most LEDs are too broad and lack intensity for distance-based applications. We require at least some secondary optics to change the beam of light coming from such a source.

Secondary LED optics comes in four varieties:

  • total internal reflectors (TIR)
  • lenses,
  • reflectors and
  • holder kits.

Based on the design of the secondary LED optics, we magnify the light within the bulb or fixture towards a target, thus increasing its intensity.

This optimization improves the uniformity of the color and light in the targeted area. We select lenses and optics according to the use for which they are intended.

By controlling heat-induced degradation, a LED module can extend the life of a product.

These lights are perfect for industrial applications that require durable components with higher light output, thus reducing the need for many luminaries.

For LED module makers to guarantee correct usage in a particular industry, they are innovating based on the specific application requirements.

Lighting in cabinetry, coves, menu signs, menus, and displays can be arranged with LED modules. PWM dimmers can dim these and come in many colors.

RGB lighting systems require LED controllers. Lighting controls are useless if there is no control over the lighting.

In the market, you can find pre-programmed RGB LED controllers that anyone can easily use. There are many color-changing effects we can use with controllers. Different controllers offer different settings for speed and brightness.

There is a wide variety of LED enclosures available for both home and industrial use. Typically, these housings are geared towards component-specific mounting solutions, attachment methods, or design features to meet a specific type of application.

Plan of action

Investments in technology and infrastructure will be crucial for the future growth of the LED industry. Developing standards for LED components, modules, and systems will help to encourage broader use.

Various industrial LED components for lighting solutions need additions that reduce energy usage and provide more consistency in color.
