Create a Subscription

The first thing you’ll want to do is log into your iTunes account. From there, head to the “iTunes Store” option and then select “Podcasts”. Find a podcast that interests you and then click on the orange “Subscribe” button underneath the title of the podcast. If it’s a TV show, find a show you enjoy and look for the “Subscribe” button at the bottom of the screen next to an episode so you can subscribe to it as well.

If you have a favorite blog or site with content you like to read, go ahead and subscribe to those as well!

Add Subscription on iPhone

It can be a bit overwhelming to figure out how to create a subscription on your iPhone. But with these steps, it is easy as pie.

First, open the “Settings” app and go to “iTunes & App Store.” You’ll see a tab for “Podcasts”. Tap on that.

Here, you’ll want to tap on “Add Podcast Subscription.”

Next, tap on the type of podcast you’re looking for and select one from the list of recommendations. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, scroll down and search.

Finally, tap the blue “Subscribe” button and enter your Apple ID password when prompted. This will automatically subscribe you to the podcast without having to wait for new episodes to be released!

Open the App Store

To find the App Store, go to your home screen and click on the icon with a little shopping bag. The store will open so you can enter in a search term.

Select the Featured Tab

The first step to creating a subscription for your iPhone is to select the Featured tab. This tab will give you all of the most popular podcasts, TV shows, and movies that are available for free with your subscription.

Search for the Podcast or TV show you want to subscribe to

Let’s say you’re interested in podcasts. To subscribe to a podcast, you’ll have to search for it first. The easiest way is to search the name of the podcast or TV show on your iPhone’s Google app or Safari browser.

Subscribe and Download Content

Before you can subscribe to content, you need to make sure your device is set up to do so. From the Home screen, tap Settings. In the upper-right corner of the screen, tap iTunes & App Store.

In this menu, there’s a switch that says “Automatic Downloads.” Flip this switch on to activate downloads for all content types.

Once that’s done, open a podcast or TV show you want to subscribe to and tap Subscribe Now. For podcasts, scroll down and tap Podcasts Subscriptions. For TV shows, scroll down and tap Video Subscriptions. When you’re prompted with a subscription confirmation, confirm your purchase by tapping OK in the upper-right corner of the screen.

You can now enjoy your content without having any data charges!

Sync Subscriptions

If you use iTunes or Apple Books, you can sync subscriptions to your phone. This will save you the trouble of having to find new content on your phone every time you want to sync it.

To do this, open up your settings on your iPhone and scroll down until you see the “Safari” section. Scroll down some more until you see “Auto Renew Subscriptions.” From there, just turn on the toggle that says “Subscriptions are auto renewed only if not set to manually.”

Charging Your Phone

First things first: Make sure your phone has enough battery life to power the subscription. If you’re low on power, it’s not worth attempting to subscribe.

Find Your Subscriptions on Your Phone

Your subscriptions are conveniently located in the Settings App. So, you can either go to Settings > Scroll down to ‘Subscriptions’ or swipe down your Notification Center and click on ‘Today’.

If you have a lot of subscriptions, some may not appear in this list. You can visit the App Store to find all of them under the ‘Updates’ tab.
