How to Take Your Outdoor Space to the Next Level

There are many ways in which you can go with the design and look of your outdoor space. While most of them are dictated by the space’s size and scope, you can generally do what you like with the garden or patio that you have at your home.

Depending on what you are working with, you might have to consider how things like grass, trees, and decking will play into the space’s overall design. On the other hand, if you are only set up with a smaller, closed-in type of outdoor space, you might be wondering just what could be done to transform it into the type of space you can see yourself regularly enjoying basis.

You might need to take some steps towards taking your outdoor space to the next level. With some interesting and creative design tricks, you can not only make such a small outdoor space feel more open, but you can also end up with a space that feels more like an extension of your house that is enjoyable to hang out in.

With that in mind, here are a few tips that can help you take that small, enclosed outdoor space to the next level and make it feel bigger.

Add a Walk on Skylight

You are probably already familiar with the concept of a roof light or skylight. They are windows that are installed into the ceiling of a room to let more natural light flood into a space. However, when it comes to your tiny, enclosed outdoor space, you might consider incorporating a reverse skylight of sorts.

If your outdoor space is built on top of a basement or other room in your home, why not look into a walk-on glass system? Not only will a reverse skylight make your outdoor sectionals with fire pit space feel bigger, but it will also make any room below it feel bigger as well by bringing in more natural light.

Keep It Tidy

The most important thing that you can do when your outdoor space is on the smaller side is making the additional effort to keep it clean and tidy. Remove any debris or leaves that might fall into the space and keep the decking or patio surface cleaned by using a power washer.

Focus on Seating

Since the main purpose of a smaller and enclosed outdoor space is to allow you to sit outside for a while in the comfort of your own patio, you will want to emphasize the seating. Not only should the seating you bring in be comfortable, but it should also make good use of the space that you have at your disposal.

Instead of oping for an uncomfortable and overly-simple table and chairs, you can create more lounging spaces with comfortable cushions and interesting patterns. If it can be accommodated in the space that you have, an outdoor sofa of sorts might be just the thing to take your space to the next level.
