Keto diet or ketogenic has become a famous diet plan procedure among individuals and experts today. It is an extremely low-carb diet where most of the calorie intake is done from moderate protein and high-fat. It might be a daunting task while eating out to stay on the track, but it is likely doable with a little bit of pre-planning.

Whether you want to go for a dine out with family, a quick drink or a brunch on the weekend with your friends, you can enjoy by still on a keto diet. You can go for many options like grilled chicken in El Pollo Loco NNN, Nandos or KFC, while you can also go with bacon, egg and sausage options. Many restaurants are now all protein sandwiches and burgers, all credits to the keto popularity.

Let us look into some other offering options you can opt for a while on a keto diet when dining out:

Table of Contents

  • 1. Sub in a tub
  • 2. Grilled chicken
  • 3. Tea or coffee with cream or half-and-half
  • 4. Cabbage/lettuce-wrapped burger
  • 5. Buffalo wings

1. Sub in a tub

Sub sandwiches can be high in carbs typically because of the bun it is served with. There would be 50g of carbs in a sub that can be totally skipped out by ordering you sub in a tub!

It offers chicken or turkey served with salad and sauces in a tub while you can skip the bun.

2. Grilled chicken

You can order your grilled chicken or turkey from many franchise restaurants, including that are named above. Enjoy your chicken with coleslaw or a large bowl of mixed salad with lots of fiber and the least amount of carbs in it.

3. Tea or coffee with cream or half-and-half

Tea and coffee are ultimately allowed in the keto diet without any additional whitener, milk or sugars. They are also rich in caffeine with remarkable advantages. Caffeine helps you increase your mood, metabolic rate and your performance both mentally and physically.

If you like to have milk in your cup of joe, there are offers of half-and-half with just 0.5 g of carbs in many of the restaurants and coffeehouses. Heavy cream is almost carb-free and available occasionally. It contains roughly 50 calories per tablespoon relative to half-and-half, which has 20.

Some shops also have an option of soy or almond milk, which delivers minimum carbs in the unsweetened versions.

4. Cabbage/lettuce-wrapped burger

Many fast-food restaurants offer low-carb deals containing all meat burgers wrapped in lettuce filled with sauce and pepperoni. This delicious version is very low in carb, high in fat and protein, all good for a keto plan.

You can further customize your burger by additional options like cheese, bacon, mustard, onion, mayo or tomatoes.

5. Buffalo wings

Foods that are restricted in many low-fat diets are enjoyed with full zest on a keto diet plan. Buffalo wings are perfect for eating and fun. Depending on how they are made, they can even be a low-carb choice in pizza areas and sports bars. Buffalo wings are usually fried in hot red sauce, vinegar and red peppers sauce.

Usually, just 0.3 grams of carbohydrates per serving are in these wings. Some other sauces may be used to add a large number of carbohydrates that should be avoided. Often the wings are battered and fried, so be sure to inquire how they prepare the wings and order yours without battering.
