Before the changes that came with COVID, you probably had a standard workday schedule that involved a dedicated time each day to work out.

Now that you’re working from home full time, those old effective daily routines probably feel like a distant memory.

But did you know that staying fit can be easy when you work at home?

Here, we’ll take a look at some easy ways you can stay (or get) fit while working from home.

Let’s dive in.

Begin New Routines

With change comes a new opportunity to grow and improve ourselves. Right now is the perfect opportunity to start new routines that will keep you fit within your new reality.

For example, currently it’s a lot easier to sleep in as long as possible and log on to your work computer while you still have bed head. When you were commuting to the office, you had to set your alarm early and start getting ready for your day well before logging in to work.

The getting-ready process probably involved a morning workout to get your juices flowing. So what happened to that habit in the last several months?

Beginning tomorrow, start a new routine of setting your alarm clock a couple hours prior to when you need to be at your work desk. Set it as early as you used to when you had to commute into work.

Then, before you do anything else, begin your day with a brisk walk, jog or workout. It’ll start your day off on the right foot and the new habit will keep you looking and feeling great.

Rethink What’s in Your Fridge

Since working from home, how many times each day do you get up and look for something to snack on? When you think about it, that was never really a “thing” when you were working at the office.

Back then, if you were hungry you basically just had to wait for lunch or count on the few snacks you brought in with you.

Now, with the ability to grab a bite of anything you want to eat whenever you want it, it’s easy to overindulge and end up taking in way more calories than your body is used to.

Because of this, it’s time to rethink what’s inside of your fridge.

On your next trip to the grocery store, fill your cart with a lot of quick and healthy snack options that you enjoy. Things like veggie trays, fruits, nuts and cheese bites are perfect options to help you refuel and curb hunger throughout the day.

It’s time for those cookies and pastries to go… at least for a while.

Get Your Family Involved

Chances are, you aren’t the only one working (or learning) from home in your family right now. Getting healthy and staying fit is always easier when it’s done with other people.

Talk to your partner and children about working on better health habits together as a family. Make it fun. Set up some friendly competitions between each other with motivating rewards.

Or, just set a time each evening when you all go for a 2-mile walk as a family.

Commit to eating one healthy meal together every day.

There are so many creative ways that you can work together as a family to get healthier and stay fit. And there’s never been a better time than now, when you’re home together, to get started.

Set a 60-Minute Timer

During the work day, set a timer on your phone for 60 minutes. Every time the alarm goes off, stand up from your desk and walk around the room or house for a few minutes before returning to work.

It makes a bigger difference than you might think.

Staying Fit in a Changed World

Working from home can be a blessing and a curse. But with these few tips, you can stay fit within your new reality.
