How to Score 90+ in Board Exams

Scoring above 90% seems like a dream for many students, mainly when they appear for challenging examinations, such as the CBSE, where the scoring system is very generous. That does not mean scoring high is impossible.

This app contains material purely designed to crack the board exam by scoring high.

Apart from that, there are certain important tips that you need to understand about the scoring system which will help you prepare for the exam in right manner. Here are a few sure shot tips that will surely help you score high.

  1. Time Yourself:

Time is a crucial factor to score high in board examinations. You need to cover up all the questions and write required answers to even take a step towards high scores. The question paper is formulated such that there will be high marks and low marks questions. The format is set long back before the examination, and you will be aware of it. Time all the answers and stick to the plan during the examination to cover the entire question paper.

  1. Know the Marking Concept:

Each question from the syllabus has a particular marking concept, as per the CBSE norms. You must learn the marking style to ensure you can score maximum marks. Referring to NCERT Solutions will help you understand the various answer steps that carry marks. This way you can consciously include those mark bearing steps in your answers more marks.

2. Make a Timetable:

You always get a long study holiday before board exams. It is easy to slack in the beginning and end up with a few days to cover a lot of syllabus. Allocate days and times for each subject. Create a detailed timetable and follow it to the ‘T’. Also, leave at least a week for revision after preparations. Toppers usually revise 3-4 times before examination, so you should aim for that.

3. Focus on Neatness:

You are writing answers not just to pass but to score high. This means your answers need to impress the examiner who will check your paper. It not just needs to be correct but also should be legible. You need to avoid any cuts and mistakes and maintain neat handwriting, which may boost your scores.

4.  Keep Some Time for Revision During Exam:

As you write a 3 hours long exam, you are prone to making mistakes. Always try to finish your answers before time to get some time to revise your answers and check for any errors. Rechecking your answers will ensure you catch them before you submit your sheet. Also, while revising, check that you have marked the correct question number on the answer sheet or lose all marks for that question.

5.  Read Questions Carefully:

It so happens in the examination that due to anxiety and the hurry to finish fast, you may misread the question, resulting in losing marks due to the silly mistake. Yes, you will spend a few extra minutes reading and re-reading the question, but this will ensure that you exactly know what they are asking for in the answer and what you need to write. Even while you revise the answers after you finish writing, read the questions once again to ensure you have answered correctly.

Another grave mistake many students make is to answer half of the question. At times, they set the question paper such that a few questions have two parts that need to be answered. In a hurry, students sometimes forget to read the second part of the question and answer only half. This means they will only be able to score half the marks. This further emphasises how essential it is to read the question paper correctly. Use a pen to mark the answers you have written to ensure you have not left any.

6. The Bottom Line:

It is good to be ambitious and work hard for it, but remember it is just an exam. It may seem like a big deal now, but if you have the right talent in the future, you will still reach where you are destined to reach. Hence, even if you do not achieve what you had worked for, do not lose hope. You have a long and happy life ahead of you.
