Finding affordable and convenient accommodations can be a challenge when you’re a student. But with a little bit of planning and research, it’s possible to find a great place to live without breaking the bank. See below tips for saving money and time when choosing students accommodation:

Table of Contents

  • Start your search early
  • Compare prices and amenities
  • Consider your budget
  • Ask around for recommendations

Start your search early

Many accommodations for students are popular and fill up quickly, so it’s important to start looking as soon as you know where you’ll be going. If you’re heading off to college or university, contact the school about accommodations near campus. Some universities have residence facilities on-site that are available for rent at a discounted rate. You can also check local classifieds, both online and in print, for landlords who list accommodations specifically designed for students (they tend to be cheaper than regular rentals).

Tip: If you’re looking for accommodations in a big city, start your search at least three months ahead of time.

Compare prices and amenities

Once you’ve got some places that interest you, take some time to compare the prices and amenities. Some things to consider include parking, laundry facilities, internet access, and whether or not meals are included in the rent. It’s also important to make sure the accommodations fit your budget – don’t get carried away by all the bells and whistles if you can’t afford them!

Tip: Many students choose to live together to save money on rent. If you know other students who are also looking for accommodations, you might want to consider teaming up and renting a place together.

Consider your budget

You could easily overspend when you’re looking for accommodations, so it’s important to know exactly how much money you have available. This will help ensure that your search is focused and productive. If you don’t have enough money set aside in savings, consider getting a part-time job on the side or lowering your expenses by cutting back on things like eating out at restaurants.

Tip: Don’t forget about all of the other costs associated with accommodations – utility bills, internet access fees and even food can add up quickly! Make sure everything is within budget before signing any lease agreements or moving in somewhere new.

Ask around for recommendations

You should ask friends, colleagues or family members if they have any cheap accommodations for students recommendations for you. They might point out cheap places close to campus (or work), which is especially important for students who don’t have their transportation yet. If all else fails, try contacting the school itself: some universities offer accommodations assistance services.

Tip: Make sure that all accommodations recommendations come with contact information so that it’s easy to follow up on them later! That way, when you’re ready to start looking at apartments or houses in person, there will already be an established relationship between yourself and each potential landlord/tenant before you meet them face-to-face.

Finding the perfect place for accommodation is one of the most important steps in starting university. Whether you’re looking for a room with your best friend or want to find an apartment on your own, these tips will help make it easier and cheaper than ever before!
