How to make assignment writing more engaging for students?

University life comprises various difficulties, excitements, challenges, and learnings. One of these challenges includes writing assignments with high knowledge, communication and thinking skills. The professors or teachers set the assignments based on the course guides.

Some of the well-known writing assignments students are assigned to create include reports and essays. However, you might get assignments from various universities to ask the students to create a blog or website.

Creating an assignment is not a big task but making it unique is a challenge for many. Creating an engaging and effective assignment related to the university course is useful for future interviews also.

What are the Best Technology Tools to Engage Students?

Does technology distract students? What’s the solution? One solution is to ban mobile phones and laptops from the students and classrooms. And another solution is to engage students with online tools and engage them technically to make the assignment’s progress more interesting for the students.

If students are flourishing in a world with various technological developments and tools, they shouldn’t technology play an essential role in classroom study.

Below are some online tools or resources that can help students study online.

Augmented reality apps.

It is a growing technology where you can experience modified real life with enhanced desktop-generated visions and sound effects. One of the most exclusive uses of augmented reality is seen through cell phone applications.

Place your mobile’s camera at something, and the app will create a 3D animation based on the thing on your camera’s display. The effect enables the computer-generated vision to look real. Some of the best-augmented reality apps for the classroom are Adobe Aero, Sky Guide, Wonderscope, Google Lens, etc.

Video games.

Frankly speaking, video games aren’t a “student engagement tool”; however, they don’t operate without the player’s input. The right game could change your classroom and increase student engagement.

A teacher can teach almost anything using almost everything. If the underlying learning and teaching process is well-thought-out, video games can also provide powerful common ground for students and teachers.

Kahoot.

Kahoot provides the service of creating in-class questionnaires and quizzes for the students. It is handy for collecting data on graphic assignments with various devices and has a game-like structure that keeps the students interested.

The questions are projected on a shared screen and students can answer the questions with their laptops or mobiles, creating a fun and interactive environment. Kahoot allows students to design multiple-choice questions, surveys, quiz questions, and polls enforcing quick decisions and whole-class discussions.

Edvoice.

It is a feature-rich communication application with everything, including lesson planning, rubrics, notifications, and even a tool for responding to bullying in the classroom.

Do you fear going to PTM? Edvoice simplifies communications between parents, teachers and students with an easy and private approach.

Google classroom.

In the past few years, the Google classroom has evolved to be one of the best mediums for students’ continuous improvement and class management. It is a blended learning program evolved by Google for various educational institutions to simplify the learning and creating process.

It enables the students to find assignment help for their specific subject in just a few clicks. The teachers can track students’ progress in their record book and export scores to the school’s student information system.

Is assignment making Ever Fun? 10 Ways Teachers Can Make It More Engaging

After the students return home after a long day at school, assignments are usually the last and most important thing they need to do. Getting their children to complete the assignments can be a stressful task for parents.

However, there are several ways of making the assignment preparations fun and exciting. To take a fresh approach to assignments, energise the students and follow the tips below.

Provide Choice to the students.

One of the greatest reasons students do not get engaged with the assignments is that they find them pointless. Teachers should connect the students emotionally and personally with the assignments to boost their engagement.

Suppose that the teachers provide several options with the assignments, the students get a choice of several prompts. When the students have choices, they become more connected to what’s at stake, and assignment becomes more engaging.

Incorporate Art.

The majority of the students engage in creative thinking and make it more fun by adding art-focused assignments. One benefit is to allow students to draw, plan an instrument, or write a poem in response to a certain assignment.

The students can also prepare a short or mini act to represent in the class. This could allow the students to research the characters and places they’ve been assigned. Additionally, certain assignments also encourage the students to step outside their comfort zones and think creatively.

Inspiring adventure.

Sitting in the study room and doing the assignment isn’t a bad idea, but doing the assignments at the same location every day can cause disinterest. Switch the location to encourage the students to take assignments on an adventure.

Teachers can inspire and encourage the students by creating challenges and solutions in the classroom. The students can further share their assignment’s adventure stories in class, developing excitement to learn amongst others.

Create breaks and intervals.

There are situations when students cannot complete all of their assignments in one go. Consider incorporating and creating breaks into the assignment-making process for such students.

Breaks include playing video games, talking with friends, getting a snack, chatting with family members, taking a short break with a pet, and many more. Teachers can also discuss these ideas with students to help them set the timings for taking a break at intervals. Breaks offer a mental break for returning to their work with a fresh mind.

Place quality over quantity.

Teachers often assign the students several assignments each day, week or month. As a result, the students get used to such a routine and focus on working in a slow manner or way. Instead of placing quantity over quality, focus on higher-quality assignments to boost the knowledge and skills of the students.

Often teachers and professors explain that giving more time allows for good revision work, which is better and necessary for overall learning. The students can also take guidance from assignment helpers to proofread and edit their work.

Hobbies also play an essential part in learning, both in the classroom and at home. Fewer assignments also guide the students in developing important music, arts and sports skills.

Do choices lead to greater engagement?

There’s a great reason why offering choices to the students in their educational and learning activities has become popular. When the students choose their topic, they’re more likely to take responsibility for their work and experience confidence in their learning.

Providing the students with the choice in assignments may lead to higher engagement and interest. But too much choice may lead to decreased motivation and satisfaction.

Although Choice is a key element of cultivating students’ individualism, it sometimes leads to overload. Overloaded with various choices, students may become overwhelmed and rather than making a choice; they end the choice-making process. This may lead the students to feel dissatisfied and less motivated as well.
