HOW TO GET YOUNGER AND CONTOURED EYES?

Our eyes can say things that words can’t. Age also takes a toll on our eyes. It can make them look tired and heavier. Wrinkles start to appear along with puffy bags. This could also be due to genetic predisposition or stress. The best way to deal with it is by undergoing blepharoplasty Toronto. It works to redefine the lids. The procedure can be carried out on both eyelids. You can also choose whether it should be carried out on the upper or the lower eyelid.

Are you an ideal candidate for the procedure?

Not everyone can undergo blepharoplasty. Certain criteria need to be met. Those who have heavy wrinkles around the eyes, the existence of puffy bags under the eyes, excessive loose skin above the eyes and fine lines are considered to be ideal for the procedure. There is no age bar for the surgery but it is suggested that the patient should be about 35 years or older. The reason behind this is that this is when one begins to show the sign of ageing. When it comes to fighting the signs of ageing, it is always better to have a more proactive approach. However, before undergoing any cosmetic procedure you must be in good overall health. The surgeon will ask you to undergo blood tests, chest x-ray and an eye test before going ahead with the procedure.

How is blepharoplasty performed?

You will be put under conscious sedation for the procedure. The techniques followed for upper and lower blepharoplasty are different. When the complete surgery is performed, it takes about 2 to 3 hours. Both surgeries are performed together. In upper Blepharoplasty, there is a standard technique followed by the surgeon. The surgeon begins by making a tiny incision. After this, a small amount of skin is removed along the upper eyelids. If there is the fat accumulation that is causing the bulging, the surgeon will remove it as well. This helps to give the eyes a natural open-eyed look.

In lower blepharoplasty, there are two famous techniques. First is the transconjunctival approach. In this, the surgeon removes the fat through the small incision. This incision is inside the lining of the lid, there is no visible scarring. The second is the Subciliary approach. When this technique is followed, a tiny incision is made under the lower eyelashes. The fat is removed through it. Once the incision heals, it is no longer visible to the naked eye.

What happens during recovery?

Recovery is an essential part of the procedure. You are suggested to take at least a week off from your routine. After the procedure, you will be allowed to go back home with a family member or friend. However, before you leave, you will be provided with a list of post-care instructions. Anti-biotics are prescribed to lower the risk of infection. To ensure you are comfortable, pain medication is also prescribed. You might experience swelling and bruising, cold compress is suggested. Within a week, it will begin to settle.
