Finally, you’ve got a drone in your name, or you’ve picked one, congratulations! That’s a significant step into a fun world with freedom and new perspectives. You’re free to enjoy life in the skies the best way you wish. As a hobby, drones can be fun to fly and are perfect when you want to create inspiring aerial photography.

At the initial stages, it can be intimidating, but with the steps below, you can safely take to the skies.

Table of Contents

  • To what extend to you know your drone
  • Drone control
  • Perfect location to practice flying
  • Take-off and landing

To what extend to you know your drone

Take time and become familiar with your drone. Check out the settings, controls, and critical information on the battery performance. You also need to research air traffic and the rules governing drones in your area. It may mean you look for videos about drones and content like the article you’re reading now.

Many drones have beginner simulators and modes that will allow you to get familiar with the controls and fly safely. Many drones nowadays have simulators that can connect the controller to your mobile gadget and a mode that will restrict speed and altitude. Thus, if you’re a novice, you have an excellent opportunity to build confidence while flying low before you embark on full-fledged flights.

Drone control

Many drones have an elaborate controller layout, including buttons and control sticks. And while some controllers can differ in size or shape, the functionality is the same. Joysticks control the drone’s movement, and you’ve several buttons that control the camera. With these, you can take photos, videos. Flying a drone is easy; all you need to remember is which side is the front and back- that will help you know when to move forward or backward. While flying also, you’ve to ensure your drone is in GPS mode so that it can maintain its position in case the input of the sticks ceases.

Perfect location to practice flying

Once you’ve studied everything about how to make a drone fly; now you’re ready to venture into the skies. Scanning the surroundings is very critical. You’ve to check the terrain. That way, you’ll keep off any surprises while in the air. What size of buildings, trees, and power lines are in your area? Confirm also how far you are from heliports and airports because you don’t want to fly anywhere near them for safety reasons.

Your flight performance can be affected by weather conditions like rain, wind, temperature, and therefore, you need to take note of such, so you don’t have challenges. Rainwater can affect the performance of electric equipment, battery life, and even affect visibility. When you predict such weather, you’d better postpone your flight until you’re sure the weather conditions are favorable.

Take-off and landing

The most critical part when flying a drone is the take-off and landing. Just like it is for a plane, you need an open area with no trees, buildings, so you fly your drone in a controlled way. The safety checklist will help you take off safely, and your drone flies in optimal condition. Check everything; the battery life, drone settings, and announce to others that you’re taking off.

Flying a drone is a dream come true for many people that have ever wished to fly. You only need to get a reputable drone company that will guide you and helps you to learn and fly safely.
