How to Dress for Summer: 9 Fashion Tips for Warm Weather

Summer! It’s packed with heat, activities, fun, and color. It’s hot. But we love it. Are you ready to face the heat? How’s your wardrobe status? Nobody bothers with how we dress, the makeup-free face, the sweaty clothes, and the bulgy veins on our feet. Light and breathable is the mantra for summer. But it doesn’t mean you have to wear shorts, flip-flops, and T-shirts day in and day out to beat the heat. You’re allowed to dress up and stylishly show some skin. At times simple is good. Beat the heat with these nine fashion tips.

Natural and Breathable Fabrics

It gets hot and sweaty during the summer. Synthetic fibers will cling to your body, trapping heat and moisture as you maneuver under the searing heat. Clingy and moist dresses, shorts, pants, or tops are not cute. So, always choose breathable and preferably natural fabric to beat the heat. Buy lots of cotton, linen, light silk, or chambray. Cotton blends can trap heat. So, check the labels. Pick outfits that are 100% natural and breathable.

Reflect the Heat With Light-Colored Outfits

Blacks, navy blues, and other pigmented hues absorb lots of heat. Thus, not appropriate for warm weather. Choose light colors as you shop for shirts, dresses, tops, shorts, and pants.

Lilacs will make you stand out while battling the heat. Yellow and summer are soulmates. Yellows make summers hearty and beautiful. Pick that flowery light green dress. It’ll pop that tan. If you need a calming outfit, pick a dusty blue dress. It’s calm and repels heat. Pink will pair well with any color. How can I forget white and sandy hues? They’re simple and reflect heat. Get lots of neutral for the days you desire simple but stylish outfits.

Flowy Fit

Think flowy and loose, not tight. Fabrics should not cling to your body. Flowy dresses or tops will let air pass along the skin. Hence, making you feel comfortable under the sun. A flowy midi or maxi dress is comfier than shorts.

Liven it with pops of color

Summer brightens our moods, and so do lively and vibrant colors. Include colors in your summer outfits. I love neutrals. But I believe summers should be colorful. A bust of deep red, mustard, orange, or neons makes summers worthwhile. Elevate your neutral maxi dress with bright and vibrant sandals. Match the look with a colorful scarf.

Prints and Patterns

Try new prints each day. Summers are about lots of activities and events. Lighten these events with bold, freaky, flowery, or geometric prints and patterns. Summers are all about being out of your element and taking fashion risks.

Eye-catching Sandals

Forget flip-flops. Sandals will give you the comfort you desire on a hot summer. They’ll let your feet breathe and cool down. Besides, bulgy veins look good in stylish sandals. Add a pair of colorful wedges or strappy sandals. They will brighten your neutral outfits.

Slow Down on Your Accessories and Jewelry

Accessories and jewelry are fine. But keep it to a minimum.  Go for used Louis Vuitton bags, cross or sling bags instead of bulky backpacks or totes. Big earrings, bracelets, rings, or necklaces look good on a cold and gloomy day. However, when the temperature rises, these bulky jewelry look burdensome and uncomfortable. Dazzle your sink with lightweight jewelry.

Tie or Tuck It

Keep your hair tied up or tucked in when it’s too warm to deal with. Long hair gets tricky to manage as the summer heat grows stronger. Tie it. Put it in a top knot, braided crown, braided bun, braided knot, a sexy messy bun, sleek bun, or secure it in a band. Invest in colorful clips, bands, and scarves. They are not childish but stylish on a hot summer day.

Lightweight Undergarments

Put your padded bras aside. Foamy bras and summer days are equal to disaster. Switch to light padless bras. Consider adding a few strapless and adhesive bras. They are light, comfortable, and hold everything in place. Try putting on breathable thongs. They are bearable and comfortable.

A Wrap

I hope you’ve some inspiration to drop your shorts and t-shirts and look stylish for the summer. But don’t feel pressured. You don’t need to put on a perfect outfit each day. The nine tips above will keep you stylish and cool during the summer. The trick to surviving summer is dressing in light and breathable clothes and enjoying the little things at hand. Feel confident, love what you’re wearing, and enjoy the summer
