Be Concise

When you write Instagram captions, you want to write as much detail in as few words as possible. For example, you want to use your adjectives sparingly and avoid adverbs altogether.

At present, an Instagram caption can reach up to 300 words. However, it’s best to try to keep the caption between 150 to 200 words.

You want to also stick to shorter words when possible. You can use ‘pretty’ rather than ‘beautiful’ and ‘diverse’ rather than ‘multifarious.’ Make your Instagram captions simple to read. You want to use the vocabulary of a young child for your target audience.

Include a Call To Action

In your Instagram caption, you want to inspire your viewer to take action. You want them to follow you if they aren’t already. Or you want them to ‘like’ the post or leave a comment. Perhaps you want them to click the link in your bio?

Make sure you have a Call To Action that requests your viewer to take action to connect with your brand.

As a side note, if you’re struggling to get Instagram followers in the beginning, you can consider buying them. This is a great way to create a follower base while you’re trying to improve your profile.

Use a Few Powerful Hashtags

One common mistake that many Instagram users make is that they’ll overload their captions with hashtags. Remember, hashtags also take up your word count, so you want to use them as sparingly as possible.

Try to limit your hashtags to between 5 to 7. You want to mostly stick to hashtags that are very popular. Only use 1 or 2 hashtags that are less popular.

As a general rule, very popular hashtags have at least 1,000 posts. Less popular hashtags should have between 500 to 1,000 posts. You should avoid using hashtags that have fewer than 500 posts.

As with your words, choose hashtags that are shorter words. Don’t use hashtags that are too similar. As of now, it’s best to avoid hashtags with emojis as most users still prefer plain text.

That’s How to Create Captions For Instagram

Now that you know how to create captions for Instagram, you can use them to improve your profile.

You want to start by writing concise captions. You want to stick to 150 to 200 words. Avoid lengthy words and get rid of adverbs as much as possible. Use simple language that a child can understand.

Make sure you always include a Call To Action in each of your captions. Use few hashtags and stick to hashtags that are already being used on lots of posts.
