How the evolution of the automotive industry post-COVID-19 will impact the spray-booth market

Like many other industries around the world, the automotive industry will have to deal with the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the years to come.

However, unlike some industries, the automotive industry was seeing decreasing numbers leading up to and into the pandemic. Now it is thought that the industry will come out of the pandemic with some of the best prospects the industry has seen in years.

In April, light vehicle sales saw an increase of 4.4%, compared to March. It was strange to see an increase considering many countries were deep in the trenches of the pandemic during this stage.

However, it is believed this is due to the reversal of trends such as car sharing, because of social distancing, it may cause a structural change in shared transportation choices. It could, therefore, lead to the return of the car for personal use and overall more cars purchased.

Car brands have had to learn quickly on how to address global disruptions in supply chains and manufacturing during an extended period of lockdowns and restrictions. As a result, existing supply chains are unlikely to be reengineered. Still, as supply chains are established for new models, they will be established with a different mindset and the ability to continue running should we ever run into a similar situation. The automotive industry will evolve to ensure that it is as bulletproof as can be from another pandemic like situation.

This evolution will see an increase in technology and a higher need for automation within the industry to make social distancing easier and decrease the number of high touch surfaces that could cause transmission of illness.

It will create a domino effect on many other aspects of the industry, including manufacturing areas like spray paint-booths. Any changes within the automotive manufacturing industry directly impact the spray-booth industry, as it is a crucial factor in the manufacturing of lightweight and commercial vehicles.

Manufacturing has had to change their ways recently because to continue operating during restrictions; they need to be able to function with social distancing in place.

With a predicted increase in the need for lightweight vehicles and changes in the expectations of manufacturing such as an increase in technology and automation, this means that spray-booths will also need to adhere to any changes that are being seen.

The increased need for more technology and a higher need for automation within the machinery will make it easier for production lines to continue while still maintaining a safe businesses practice. The need for highly automated and bespoke spray-booths will increase as the automotive industry evolves its manufacturing and production lines.

DRYSYS Spray-Cure is one of Australia’s leading bespoke spray booth manufactures and their customers and highly automated spray paint booths will eventually be the forefront of the market. Bespoke spray booths fit into the evolving needs of the automotive industry, especially during a pandemic, which is likely to lead to an increased capacity of orders for the machinery.

Using a bespoke spray-booth ensures that paint jobs are done faster, safer and cleaner. They also ensure that your employees and their environment remain clean and safe, by containing paint overspray and confining the applications of hazardous materials to a controlled environment, which is especially important during a pandemic.

Spray-booths that are highly automated and fit perfectly into already existing production lines of automotive manufacturing will erase many high-touch surfaces, also meeting the needs for the evolving industry.

As the world progresses to adjust with the impacts the pandemic will have caused. We can still see positives in some industries. Luckily for bespoke spray paint booth manufactures, the need for the products will increase as the automotive industry evolves. Production lines for automotive manufacturing will need bespoke and highly automated spray paint booths to meet their exact requirements.

As a result of the pandemic existing automotive supply chains and production lines will need to be established for new models, to comprehensively lessen the risk that any future pandemic might bring to manufacturing.

This evolution will include a need for more technologically advanced and automated machinery within the industry. Advanced machinery such as highly automated and bespoke spray booths will make social distancing easier and decrease the number of high touch surfaces; the exact outcome the automotive industry needs and wants to see leading into the future.
