How the COVID-19 Rollout Will Happen In Australia

A lot of us are excited about the recent COVID-19 vaccine rollout across the country. Yet there isn’t a lot of information around about how it’s being rolled out and when you’ll be able to get it. In this article we will run through a few of the questions you might have about the rollout.

Who can get the vaccine?

Everyone living in Australia will be able to get the vaccine and it will be free. This means that it’s not just available to citizens and residents but all visa holders including international students.

During the early stages of the rollout the vaccines will be made available to a few priority groups before becoming available to the general public. To start with it will be made accessible to those at high risk. This includes hospital works, aged care residents and works, people with a disability and other essential workers. After the initial rollout it will then become available to the general population.

How Will the Vaccine Be Moved Around the Country?

Transporting the vaccine was one of the primary problems faced by the government and officials. Both vaccines currently ordered by the Australian Government require storage at extremely low temperatures (minus 70 degrees Celsius), making transportation difficult. Cold Jet dry ice Sydney state that this issue has since been overcome with the development of specialist dry ice boxes, made specifically to transport the vaccine at the required temperatures. With these boxes the transportation of the vaccines can start to all corners of the country.

Why should I get the vaccine?

Vaccines are like a training tool, they train your immune system to fight and kill viruses. They are the most effective way to protect yourself (and others) and something as infectious as COVID-19. COVID-19 has killed over 900 people in Australia and almost 2 million world-wide, getting the vaccine will slow the spread of the virus and help to achieve herd immunity. Getting the vaccine is the best strategy we have to manage the public health risk presented by the COVID-19 virus. If we want life to return to normal, dance floors to re-open, concerts return, festivals begin, sporting events to have spectators and travel to be allowed once again the vaccine is our best option in making all that a reality.

Conculsion

The COVID-19 rollout across Australia is an exciting time for the country. So far, we have managed the pandemic effectively and have seen some of the lowest infection and death rates in the world. But our lives are still restricted by the virus and its threat to public health, the rollout aims to stop this and help the country return to normal.
