How Do I Present My Packaging Design?

Whether you have a new product that you wish to increase its value through its appearance, or you have old products that you want to relaunch and increase sales. Working on your packaging design could be the solution you need.

Product packaging design goes a long way to enhance the appearance of a product making it look sleek and professional. Though it can be a tasking process to create the perfect packaging design for your brand and products, the process becomes simplified with some level of knowledge about creating and presenting packaging design. If you need ideas for packaging design, go here for a better understanding.

What Is packaging design?

Packaging design is the outer covering of a product. It is used to protect the product and plays an important role in marketing your brand. Packaging design can be one of the most important elements of your company’s brand identity.

What Do You Need to Consider Before Designing Your Packaging?

Before you start designing your packaging, you should consider the following factors:

The Type Of Product

One of the important things to consider before creating a packaging design is the type of product to be packaged. You need to clarify if the product requires a general package design that can suit all categories of the products or if you need a specific package design for different categories of the products. For instance, if you’re making a package design for shoes, a single general package design can be used for all categories of the product. But for products such as skincare products, you might need to design different packages for various categories of the products. Printed pouches are commonly used for a huge range of applications, such as automotive, chemical, dairy, drink, medicinal, ready-to-eat, pet food, produce, junk food, and others. Your very own prints in custom-made pouches make an ordinary product unforgettable. Employ your personal design on your pouches to devise an irresistible design.

Also, you should consider the size of the products, how fragile the products are, and the type of material used to manufacture the products. It’ll be easier to create an appropriate package design when you consider everything concerning your products.

The Target Audience

Who are you selling the products to? What do they like or dislike? How old are they? Where do they live (urban vs. rural)?  Once again, this will help designers understand what kind of design would appeal more efficiently because certain visuals work better with different types of people than others. For example, the younger generation prefers bright colors over dull ones, so if the designer’s clientele consists mostly of teenagers, then go ahead with bright colors; otherwise, stick with safe ones only (like black and white combinations, which never go out of style irrespective of age group preferences).

Sales Outlets

Where will the products be sold; online or physical store? The package design should be protected and made to withstand shipping and carrying for products that’ll be sold online. Online products should be packed in a box that isn’t too spacious to prevent the products from rattling around. Products bought in physical stores such as supermarkets or boutiques might not require extra details when creating the package design.

How To Present Packaging Design

When it comes to presenting your packaging design, there are several things that you should take into consideration.

Client feedback

As much as we may want our clients to love our work, they don’t always feel the same way. Before presenting packaging design ideas to your clients, you can do a survey to test the package design of your products. Ask them what they like or dislike about the package design; this will help in creating an even better design in the future.

The Design itself

The actual design of a package is very important as well. Make sure that any colors used match up with those already chosen by the company; this makes it easier on everyone involved instead of having multiple colors used throughout all product packaging types (which would confuse things). Also, remember to include both text and images such as logos or icons that represent what is inside each item being sold (if applicable).

Consider Your Competition

It’s necessary to consider your competition before creating and presenting a packaging design for your products. You can visit a store to check out the products that’ll be displayed alongside yours. Also, take note of how products like yours are displayed in stores. Will they be hanging down from a shelf, placed at the checkout stand, or displayed in a large basket? All these will give you an idea of how to present your packaging design better. You can also take inspiration from what your competitors are doing and improve on it.
