How Can Workplaces Best Avoid Accidents? DSS Law Explains How

Workplace accidents remain a serious problem across the US. DSS Law believes more needs to be done to educate companies on the steps they can take in order to reduce accident rates and keep their employees safe.

The legal industry believes that the vast majority of workplace accidents are avoidable if proactive action is taken to install appropriate protections.

That’s why DSS Law is urging employers to contact Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C. for additional guidance on what they can do to make their workplaces safer.

Slips, Trips, and Falls

DSS Law reveals that slips, trips, and falls are by far the most common types of accidents in the workplace. These can occur within any work environment within any industry.

Accidents do happen, but employers need to do more to reduce the chances of an employee experiencing an accident.

Safety experts recommend that businesses invest in non-slip surfaces. When not considered appropriate, proper signage should be visible at all times. An enforceable health and safety package should also be put into usage to further reduce the risk of someone experiencing a slip, trip, or fall.

Manual Labor Accidents

A manual labor accident involves manual work and typically includes injuries caused when lifting or handling dangerous materials.

DSS Law claims that the reason why these accidents happen is a lack of health and safety enforcement. It’s easy to get into a false sense of security when there hasn’t been an accident in recent times.

Mislabeling a dangerous product, failing to store a dangerous piece of equipment correctly, or leaving lingering repairs of heavy machinery until later are all common pitfalls that lead to accidents.

Repetitive Motion Injury

Repetitive motion injuries used to be exclusively a symptom of the factory worker. Today, office workers are extremely likely to receive a repetitive motion injury. Did you know that three in five Swedish office workers display symptoms of repetitive motion injuries?

DSS Law explains that this is an increasingly common problem and that employers are often unaware of these types of injuries.

Ergonomic chairs and encouraging correct posture when typing are just two of the ways in which this common office injury can be avoided.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

DSS Law also wants to take the time to point out how common road traffic accidents are. If an employee is on the road as part of their job, they’re at risk.

With an increasing number of vehicles on the roads of the US, employers can do little to improve the safety situation. What should be mentioned, though, is companies have a duty of care when it comes to the quality of their vehicles.

Ensuring regular servicing and regular inspections can catch problems before they become hazardous to the driver when it comes to company cars.

These are just some of the most common types of accidents at work. DSS Law believes in promoting more safety procedures in the workplace. They say it’s not just advantageous when it comes to employee safety but also beneficial for protecting businesses from costly lawsuits.
