How Can I Create a Comic Book to Advertise My Business?

In this internet age, the average person sees anywhere between 4,000 and 10,000 advertisements each day. This makes it tough to stand out, especially when competing with like-businesses.

Create something useful and creative to make your business ads stand out. One way to do this is by creating a comic. These books pair graphic design with action-packed text to grab the reader’s attention.

Read on to learn how to make a comic book that advertises your business!

Choose a Theme

Start by brainstorming ideas. Look at already existing comics to see what people like and which themes tend to flop and compare it to your list.

A good comic book theme usually presents a moral dilemma that people can connect with and relate to. Whatever happens in this book centers around the value.

Create Characters

When demonstrating morality, you usually need bad guys who fight against the major theme and good guys who protect it. You might choose one hero or create a team of them.

Typically, you will create a number of villains who pop up in different issues. Each villain will present unique strengths and possess one great weakness that make defeat possible.

You will also want to create a population of “regular” people for the hero or heroes to protect. Creating a few likable characters helps the reader care more about the hero’s mission.

Tie Your Business In

Decide how your business will fit in. Do you want to promote an entire brand or one product or service?

You might make your company the hero’s headquarters, or you could personify the business as a superhero. Or, somebody might turn into a hero by using your product and that’s what saves the day.

Write a Script

Putting text before design will help you make sure it all makes sense together. Script out your comic.

Start with a beginning that offers a brief backstory. Introduce your population and your heroes.

Then bring in the villain to shake things up a bit. Leave the possibility of the good guys losing out to create excitement.

Then close it out with a great victory. As you create a script, make sure you carry your theme throughout the entire strip and that everything ties into it.

Remember, keep the script short for each section. Utilize your onomatopoeias, like ‘splash’, ‘pow’, ‘beep’, ‘bang’, ‘whoosh’, etc. This will bring it all to life.

Design Your Graphics

Use a comic maker to put it all together and add in awesome graphics. create a comic book that puts the words into action.

Choose a color theme that matches your brand. Maybe make the villains the colors of your competitors.

Keep your design consistent throughout the strip. Moving between color pallets or artistic styles will make it feel jarring for the reader.
