Say Hello! To Entrepreneur Of The Month- Gundeep Singh Grover. Let’s have a look at his journey and learn about his formula for earning success.
Entrepreneur of the month! Feels good, right? But, do you wonder how Gundeep managed to earn this title and success so early in his life? Let’s read on to know-how!
Being born and brought up in Amritsar, Gundeep believes that data and knowledge is power. He says earlier gold and resources were important, then power and military came up as significant only to be replaced by land. However, today things have become different! Now, the most important things are data and knowledge.
Knowledge is like an ocean where you can go more and more in-depth but the problem with this is that people have started sharing it very easily, so others have stopped valuing it. He says, “if knowledge is not used properly, it’s a complete waste.” It is also a waste of your time when you could have done something else. Want to know, why?
For instance, these days, knowledge is something you get so easily. You have got Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and of course, Google where you get easy access to blogs, webinars, videos, and what not! The Internet is a whole plethora of knowledge which has no end.
Gundeep clearly says” You are stupid if you are not putting knowledge into use.” Simply, going to attend webinars, reading stuff up there on the Internet doesn’t get you success. It is of no use if not implemented. Although he has come a long way now but hasn’t forgotten about his roots and how he started from scratch, struggled to learn, and rise high.
Let’s read some excerpts from our interview with this young rising entrepreneur!
1. Greeting from our team Gundeep! Let’s start with your younger days. Tell us how you started work. What were you doing and learning during your school or college days?
Back in my earlier days when I used to learn from 2012-2013, I was pursuing my Masters and started learning SEO from the Internet. I chose to do this as my hobby and turned my hobby into my career when I got my 1st U.S. client.
But those days were different! Nobody knew about Digital Marketing or SEO. Those were the days of real struggle. Things were infamous, we used to struggle for getting information and ideas. We used to ask a lot of people. The Internet didn’t offer much. So, talking about now, I greatly value what I learned in those days with so much hard work and struggle.
If we talk about now, people don’t care about information. They skip even important stuff because there’s a whole lot of knowledge available easily.
Let’s suppose a blogger puts up an article after doing a lot of research and spending sleepless nights and includes a number of facts, stats, data, and valuable information in it for growth hacking. But what do people do? They simply read it and then forget it. If you’re also doing this so undoubtedly you are wasting your time by not putting information into use.
You can’t simply just spend your time in attending webinars, learning new courses and skills. It is high time to start implementing. This is what is gonna take you to the right path.
2. Tell us more about your history. How did you start with work? What were the things that were new to you? What were the major decisions you took?
My first role was of a Sales Director at my Dad’s company, I learned how to bring major clients on-board through the sales strategies that I crafted. Then, I went on to become an SEO Specialist and a Digital Marketing Manager at different companies.
As my client base was increasing, I had to step up the ladder, so I started a Digital Marketing Agency along with the co-founder Ritesh Agrawal to provide custom solutions for every client
Starting with this, then I worked with real estate giants and gave them skyrocket growth, leads that converted into massive sales. My efforts resulted in my popularity and I started getting good job offers and opportunities from the real estate segment itself. Then I earned some growth in the same sector and started doing ads and media buying for the real estate industry. After giving some extraordinary results in Media Buying, I decided to shift to another field.
So, I started working with International clients from Australia, Canada, the USA, the UK, Europe, Brazil, Dubai, and more. I ventured to work for different industries like Hotels, Hospitals, Travel, Real Estate Developers, Gaming, and more.
Things were good but stopping at freelancing wasn’t my motto. This is when I stepped in to start my agency. In my freelancing, I used to provide consultation to people about what is best for their work and what strategies they should apply. But I realized a good solution doesn’t come up with only freelancing and consultancy.
I believe if I consult a person, I am giving a direction to him/her but not being a part of the opportunities and struggles that they face during the implementation process. To offer better results, I started my own agency, hired myself a team, and gave 360-degree solutions to the clients so they don’t have to bear the struggles during a plan’s execution.
3. That sounds great. Now tell us, what is the winning formula that helped you to come so far?
My winning formula is that I don’t work for clients just for the sake of my business. Suppose I am an SEO expert doesn’t mean I only sell SEO to my clients. I dig deep into their work to understand their business and revenues and find out what they actually need to get more business and growth and increase their revenue. Sometimes the clients themselves don’t know what’s good for their business, so I take up the responsibility.
I offer customized solutions to my clients. I create a solution for them and make them understand what they need. My strategy is my power here and I win with this. So, If I talk about my past projects, I had offered accurate solutions to my clientele and earned growth from there.
During all my years of work experience, I’ve never had to reach out to others asking for work. All the work that I got, and still do, has been through word-of-mouth and the references given by my satisfied clients. I never took the help of ads and all to get clients, but invested my time in networking & building strong partnerships.
Don’t believe me? Well, you should! If I offer good service to one of my clients, he/she refers me to two more, and then it goes on. This way I expanded my business in the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Dubai, and more.
4. What else is your USP? What is the thing that distinguishes your work from others? Like, how do you manage to sustain clients and make them satisfied with your work?
Yes, I believe everyone should have a USP. We need to offer value to our clients to retain them and earn their trust in our services. So, what distinguishes my work from others is that I always offer native solutions to my clients keeping in mind their business requirements and objectives.
It doesn’t mean that if I’m an Indian, I provide them with solutions as per my thinking and criteria. No! I look up for trends going on in my clientele’s countries and their specific industries.
Actually, there’s a misconception that the agency model is easy. A lot of people think so. But, trust me, it’s not! It is very challenging to run an agency with different aspects, clientele, requirements, challenges, objectives, and more.
For example, there’s a client in the construction industry, then I need to understand the whole work, I can’t simply start doing their SEO. I need to check for their competitors, their strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and then create a strategy that can work for them. After a good deal of research and understanding comes the execution part.
I also need to check for their customers, the user’s intent, the trends in their industry as per their niche, and I start the SEO work only after the understanding of the user’s intent.
Let me give you another example. Many times, clients approach our agency and ask to create a website for them. But it isn’t just a website for me.
In my opinion, your website is not a visiting card that you simply create and show off to the customers. Instead, it is your property, reputation and most importantly, your portfolio. It represents you and makes you who you are. So, your website should be perfect in describing your business accurately.
It is important for me to make my clients happy with my work. I consider it very important for my business as well as for my personal growth.
5. How are you these days? What all are you doing? How much growth do you wish to accomplish from your current business?
Currently, I have expanded in multiple countries and have started several offices internationally. I had set up my remote team and started remote clientele.
As you know, these are the days of the pandemic so it wasn’t easy for me to stabilize the business, retain the clients, and keep everything going but I had managed to do so with the help of the trust and credibility that my agency has earned in the past few months.
Talking about growth and expansion, what I believe is that you should always keep going and learning. Never stop or hold on with things. Don’t ever think you have done enough!
If you want to sustain in the field- Digital Marketing, you need to keep moving whether it is applying knowledge, looking for strategies and ideas, or making money. Whatever the case is!
6. What are your expansion plans and future plans?
I am focusing greatly on expansion and future plans. I had set up my business in Canada and I have also moved to media buying and focusing on SEO and business strategy too. I want to transform businesses into brands and offer them immense growth to sustain in situations like the coronavirus pandemic.
Whether it’s brand building, social media marketing, or advertising I specialize in providing round-the-clock online marketing services.
About my future plans, I really want to generate employment in India as our country especially, the youngsters are struggling hard for that.
Although I am focusing more on my international business for now but being a native of Amritsar, India, I want to work for my city and make an impact that counts.
As in Punjab, the IT segment is not so strong so my main focus in the future would be to establish the IT segment in my hometown and generate a huge number of jobs there. In Delhi, I have already generated a lot of jobs and will work on to increase the scale at which I can offer employment to people in my country.
So, if you ask me, I will say never stop thinking and never stop achieving!
“Getting you more business is my business. Let’s join hands to climb the ladder of success together.”
