Good Lock Tries To Help A Tourist Couple From Pennsylvania Who Got Locked Up Overnight at restaurant in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach is one of the best places to visit in the southeastern part of the country, with it’s beautiful beaches, amazing and diverse restaurants, and it’s vibrant cultural scene. So much that if you visit it, you wouldn’t be able to go back home. At least, that is what seems to have happened to Mick and Lisa, a couple of newlyweds from Pennsylvania. The couple got locked up at one of the city’s finest seafood restaurants, at the Boardwalk, last Saturday. And they spent the night inside.     

NewlyWeds Drama – An Adventure For Lovebirds!

Mick and Lisa are a young newlywed couple in their mid-twenties. They just got married in January, and decided to finally go on a road trip, taking a break from this long Covid-19 quarantine that has turned the world upside down. They drove from Pittsburgh to Virginia Beach for the weekend. Their plan was to visit some of it’s fantastic features, to later continue driving to New York, where they have friends in common, who they haven’t seen for a while.     

They did their research on the city’s major attractions. Lisa earned her BA in History last year, so she was interested in getting to know all of the historic sites, such as the Fort Story/Cape Henry Memorial, and, of course the lighthouses. Mick, a true hiker, on the other end, was enthusiastic to see First Landing State Park, and also wanted to show his wife some parts of the city, since he used to live in Virginia Beach when he was age 8.    

But how on Earth do you get locked up at a restaurant, to the point that you can only go free only the next morning?, we couldn’t help ask the couple (but of, course, in a much kinder way). We would have definitely called any Virginia Beach locksmith, but left that question for later. According to Mick and Lisa, who laughed at first, slightly embarrassed, they got locked up, since the closing time listed on the restaurant’s Facebook page wasn’t updated, which confused them. “Also, we were…sort of tipsy”, mentioned Mick smiling. 

Lisa added that they had been visiting some other “fantastic” sites all day. “We went to First Landing State Park, where he had a great hike. You are surrounded by beautiful trees and birds of all kinds. It’s gorgeous”, she mentioned. Mick explained that, afterwards, they visited one famous distilling company, which offers a delightful and insightful version of how bourbon, and other liquours, are made. And it all ends up with a tasting session. “The people there are kind and they really know how the thing is made”, Mick praised. 

One thing -or perhaps one glass- led to another. They were responsible and took an Uber all the way to the Boardwalk, though. Then the couple found themselves enjoying some more rounds at the restaurant. They had a scrumptious dinner of shrimp and sushi. They continued celebrating by themselves until it was late…and they fell asleep in the booth. “I woke up around 4 am. I woke her up. And there was nobody there. It was really odd at the beginning”, Mick said. 

“We actually tried calling a commercial locksmith, we called a top commercial locksmith called Good Lock, infact”, explained Lisa when asked, “but the thing is that this commercial locksmith said that, according to Virginia Beach locksmith regulation, he was unauthorized to open up a store or any commercial door locks, unless it was required by owners, managers…or the police”.

Rob, a mobile auto locksmith and  commercial locksmith at Virginia Beach, who the couple called, explained that this regulation has been passed, in order to protect private property from trespassing. “It’s a bummer that I couldn’t help them get out. But the law is very strict. The idea is to prevent dishonest people from trespassing on private property. It also protects any Virginia Beach locksmith to be falsely accused of being an accomplice in any attempt of robbery. If they could have reached the manager or someone, I could have given them a hand for sure”, he added on the phone. 

According to the couple they tried getting in contact with the manager. They searched online, and at the restaurant’s social media accounts for the number. And they googled for the contact information, rather unsuccessfully. “I called a couple of numbers, but they never answered…and obviously, one of the first numbers just rang inside”, claimed Mick, which caused the couple to crack up. 

After making several phone calls, and leaving messages on the restaurant’s social media pages, the tourist newlyweds decided to just stop worrying, and remained inside. “What else could we do?”, Lisa said. So, they talked, played some apps on their phones, and they even had some more drinks and some snacks! “We wrote down everything we had”, she specified, “and paid everything later”.

Restaurant Employee Catches The Lovebirds!

On Sunday morning, Kathryn, the general manager, who punches in at 9 am on the weekends, was puzzled when she saw the couple sitting down at one of the booths. She asked who they were and what they were doing there. Other kitchen assistants and staff members where there as well, waiting to get inside. When they overheard what had happened to the couple, many couldn’t resist to laugh.   

“In all of my years of working at restaurants, this has never happened before. I found it funny, at the beginning. But I kind of felt bad for them afterwards. I wish I could have been able to answer their call, and authorize the Virginia Beach locksmith to come and open up the door for them”, stated Kathryn. “However, we always make sure that there is nobody left inside the restaurant, precisely because we want to avoid these types of situations. I personally checked the cameras on Sunday. And there was no one sitting down on any of the booths at closing time, the night before. Although, you can see them heading towards the restroom around 9”, she mentioned with a hint of a smirk. 

We tried to reach the owners of the restaurant, but they were unavailable. When talking to Kathryn, we asked if the situation would imply taking any legal action. She mentioned that not at all. “The owners are very light-hearted. Plus, I understand that these situations might happen. And the couple felt really embarrassed for what happened. None of us would like to be in their shoes. If I would’ve known, I would’ve brought a locksmith Virginia Beach expert to get them out”, she specified.

“It sure was an experience to spend the night at the restaurant”, said Lisa. “Yeah, but I hope it won’t happen again”, added Mick. The newlyweds mentioned that they would continue with their road trip. They also mentioned that they had really enjoyed their visit to Virginia Beach, they were well-fed, not so well rested, yet free at last.
