Four Surprising Ways to Expand Privacy

A home is a place built up with love, affection, and support. It is the safest place. Where we can do whatever, we want. And thus, it requires the greatest privacy. We require privacy not only from our neighbors or people walking down the street but also within rooms. Its security is and should always be a primary concern. There are various ways by which we can enhance the privacy of our home, to name a few – create a fence, introduce a trellis, buy a dog, or get a fountain, etc. But the following are four simple methods to maintain privacy at your house.

  • Plant trees/ shrubs:

You can provide privacy to your home and protect the environment by halting the use of metals. By switching to the beautiful gift provided by Earth – trees/ flowers/shrubs/creepers. It is the most practical and cheapest way of providing privacy to your home.

This not only provides privacy but enhances the beauty of your house. Provides organic vegetables (thereby reducing your items on the grocery wish list), ultimately providing a balanced diet, and you work out!

Privacy trees are very helpful. They are fast-growing and low maintenance. The most popular privacy trees are Leyland Cypress and Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae.

  • Build walls

If you think that conversion of a plant into a tree will take a lot of time and that flowers and creepers being fragile won’t be of great help, then you can build something firmer– a wall. Walls made of wood, metal, bricks, stones, or iron (choose according to your budget)

It separates the house from the outside environment and one room from the other. Walls provide security not only from people. But also prevent stray animals from entering inside the home.

  • Doors and Windows

Proper orientation of doors and windows can provide confidentiality between rooms.

  • Overhead shades: to provide security and protection from excessive heat in summers.
  • Textured glasses are also called frosted glass windows. Used in bathroom windows as nothing is visible through them.
  • Sound absorbing material like sound-absorbing foam, acoustic panels, sound-absorbing wall panels, acoustic floor tiles, etc.
  • Adding door/ window sensors will help to let you when it is open or closed.
  • Adding glass break sensors will allow you to know when a glass breaks. And helps you to make necessary amendments.
  • Curtains

Curtains change the look and feel of your space.

The latest application of technology can be seen through Motorized curtains, which works through a remote or an application installed in your phone.

Advantages of using motorized curtains are:

  • These are super easy to install
  • Enhances ambiance of the house
  • Connected to apps like Google and Alexa. So, you can automate your homes and get your blinds and curtains to do whatever you want. For example, you can schedule what time of day you want your curtains and blinds to open and close.
  • It also has an amazing feature, ‘weather trigger,’ in this, you must set the temperature, and on reaching it, the curtains will open or close. For example, it is a hot day, so reaching a temperature of 35°C, the curtains will shut.
  • You can also voice command through your google chrome or Alexa. Voice commanding also works from a certain distance. So, even if you haven’t reached home, you can command your curtains whichever way you like.
  • They also help in maintaining the security of the house from burglars. For instance, if you are not at home, the lights in the curtains will remain open, giving viewers a perception of your presence.
  • These are best for people who want to live green as it saves energy and money.
