Four Reasons to Consider a Business Internet Plan

It can generally go without saying that people today rely heavily on Internet plans for their various needs. People complete work and education through Internet-based platforms. People trade stocks, buy and sell goods and services, and interact with others on Internet-based platforms. People commonly relax, entertain, and enjoy themselves connected to the Internet in some way. It is an undeniable fact that the Internet has forever changed the path that history has taken.

With that said, because it is such an important part of life for people, it is crucial to make sure that the plan being used suits its purpose. For example, if someone is running a business full of employees who require the Internet to get their jobs done, then it would be ideal to invest in a business Internet plan for everyone. There are many reasons why a business plan is designed for a business setting.

1. There Is Dedicated Customer Service

One of the most important differences between a standard residential Internet plan and a business-focused plan is that business plans tend to have a superior customer service outlet. After all, when a massive company requires the Internet to be working and even a small period of downtime can cost hundreds of thousands, potentially millions, it is within everyone’s best interest to have a line of communication between the business and the Internet service provider.

The customer service for business-focused plans is often dedicated to businesses and will not run the same types of busy lines as residential Internet providers may have. Most business plans will include 24/7/365 support.

2. There Are Clearly Defined SLAs

An SLA is a service-level agreement and they are common in business plans. These can be thought of as guaranteed packages that can be expected when relying on the Internet provider’s services. An example of what an SLA may contain includes a low latency, 24/7 support, almost constant uptime, and similar features.

They can sometimes come at a premium price, but an added benefit is that if the SLAs promises aren’t met, the Internet service provider is obligated to compensate in some form. The exact form of compensation depends on the provider, but this offers the additional security that on the low chance the SLA’s standards aren’t met, the business will not be at a complete loss. SLAs make it easier to find a speed that works for the business while also offering that layer of security.

3. There Are Faster Speeds Offered

More often than not, business Internet plans will offer much higher speeds than the standard residential business plan. Businesses have to be able to respond to customers, partners, and other businesses as soon as they can to keep business as efficient as possible, and to be able to do that, the Internet service provider needs to be able to offer high speeds.

Additionally, because most businesses will be transferring files, communicating with clients, and handling other tasks that require a lot of bandwidth, the speeds need to be stable. This is one of the biggest reasons why business-focused plans tend to have faster speeds and promises of stable connections.

4. There Is a Designated Connection for the Business

A dedicated connection, sometimes referred to as dedicated Internet access (DIA), is a feature that business-focused plans offer that is incredibly important. It can be thought of as a connection that nobody else outside of the business has access to. This means that it won’t be slowed down by other people’s Internet activity, ensuring that the business has the promised speeds and uptime that it needs.

Small businesses benefit the most from DIAs, as larger businesses may have too many employees for just one dedicated connection to handle at once, but there are options for large enterprises in terms of fast speeds and good-quality connections.
