Four of the priciest shoes ever

Famous shoe designer Stuart Weitzman is renowned for his opulent aesthetic and elegant creations made from unusual and rare materials. Weitzman is known for designing some of the most expensive shoes in the world; well, eight of the top 10. He has also produced shoes for celebrities on Oscar red carpet runways.

It should be no surprise that the other two pairs are on our list. One honour the most renowned pair of heels in history, while the other pays homage to the iconic heels that brought a Hollywood legend home. These shoes will enchant your eyes and empty your pocketbook because they are loaded with rare gemstones and diamonds. For maximum impact, read aloud while channeling your inner Robin Leach.

1: Harry Winston Ruby Slippers

Ronald Winston, the renowned jewelry designer Harry Winston’s son, intended to throw the most lavish party possible to commemorate “The Wizard of Oz’s” 50th anniversary in 1989. The House of Harry Winston debuted its rendition of the fabled ruby slippers from the classic movie after two months of painstakingly setting 4,600 rubies. The extravagant shoes have 50 carats of diamonds in addition to 1,350 carats of rubies, which puts them in a league of their own.

They are significantly more abundant than the original shoes, which were embellished solely with plain red sequins and cost $3 million. However, a genuine pair of rubies might one day outperform them in value.

2: Stuart Weitzman Rita Hayworth Heels

The appropriately called Rita Hayworth shoes were modeled after the late actress’s go-to earring set. The burnt sienna-colored satin used to make the open-toe heels was embellished with rubies, sapphires, and diamonds in a satin ruffle at the toe. These stunning pieces, valued at an astounding $3 million, belong to Princess Yasmin Aga Khan, Rita Hayworth’s daughter, and are not up for sale.

3: Cinderella slippers by Stuart Weitzman

These sparkling shoes were created from Italian leather and modelled after the peasant-turned-princess Cinderella. 565 Kwiat diamonds set in platinum were used to form the complex lace-like design on the ankle and toe straps. The only bit of colour in the shoes comes from a rare, 5-carat amaretto diamond housed in the right slipper and alone worth more than a million dollars. The fortunate princess who got to wear the shoes at the 2004 Oscars was country singer Alison Krauss. The 4-inch clear stiletto heels were made to vanish, allowing the mountains of sparkling diamonds to take centre stage.

4: Stuart Weitzman Tanzanite Heels

Weitzman created these exquisite shoes with renowned jewellery designer Eddie Le Vian. The evening sandals’ ankle straps were made of silver leather, which more closely resembled a necklace worn by royalty than an ankle holster. The ankle strap is topped with a hanging 16-carat tanzanite drop, similar to a pendant on a necklace, and is covered in 185 carats of stunning bright blue tanzanite gemstones and 28 carats of diamonds. The design is completed with a delicate toe strap set with small diamonds. And you can get them all for a cool $2 million.

Well, above are a few costliest women’s shoes ever. But, if you are looking for reliable yet reasonable sandals, consider Weide tacones de fiestaWeide is currently the best shop in Europe.
