DucimusLearning Is a Calgary based small business that specializes in teaching the Canadian Firearms Safety Courses (CFSC). These courses are prerequisites for the Possession in Acquisition License (PAL) for unrestricted firearms as well as the Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (RPAL) course for restricted firearms. You must be 12 years old with parental consent for the PAL, and 18 years old and have already completed and passed the PAL course to take the RPAL.
The name DucimusLeaning pays homage to the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps. The term Ducimus, latin for “We Lead,” is the motto of the Corps and is emblazoned of the Corps shield. The infantry are experts in firearms which are referred to as small arms within the military. DucimusLearning’s mission statement is to strive to be “The leader in professional firearms safety training.”
The PAL and RPAl courses are prerequisites to apply for a permit to hold either classification of firearms in Canada. The PAL deals with unrestricted long guns such as hunting rifles and shotguns, while the RPAL focuses on handguns. The courses are held at a private residence. The PAL course is as taught with a student/instructor ratio of 1 instructor to 6 students. The RPAL courses are currently being taught at an instructor/student ratio of 1 instructor to 4 students. These low instructor student ratios are especially good for students with little or no previous experience with firearms. This means you get direct attention from the instructor on all of the theory and hands on skills you will need to master in order to safely handle firearms.
Your instructor is a retired Canadian Army Sergeant and emphasizes the hands-on military approach to learning handling techniques for firearms which are specifically designed to bring an individual from zero experience to competency by the shortest most direct route possible. Your instructor is a qualified Canadian Firearms Safety Course instructor in the province of Alberta is a member of the Alberta Hunter Education Instructors Association(AHEIA) and is also a retired Senior Non-Commissioned Officer(SNCO) with the Canadian Armed Forces, a graduate of the Canadian Army’s Small Arms Instructor Course (SAIC) and has taught or supervised the instruction of small arms skills at several military schools and units across Canada.
Additionally, you will meet both Kuma, a Golden Retriever, and Moka, a Husky, who are both very well behaved canines. They really enjoy meeting new people, make a lot of friends on course day and are excellent ambassadors for the canine world. You may not be a dog person before you meet them, you will be after you have! Unfortunately, if you have an allergy to dogs this isn’t the venue for you.
You can reserve a seat on any course by going to their website and selecting an open date and registering for it. You will be emailed a set of instructions detailing the address and timings for your course as well as a .pdf copy of the Course Manual to study before the course date.
DucimusLearning looks forward to meeting you and providing you, and your friends and family the professional firearms safety instruction you need.
