Facebook has launched two new models of video calling devices. At the same time, for the first time, the company has brought a portable version of the device. Facebook authorities said this in an announcement on Tuesday (September 21).
According to a report in India’s technology media Gazette Now, Facebook’s video calling device is called Portal. The world’s largest social media is experimenting to improve it.
Facebook has not officially said anything about the demand for the portal in the market or the amount being sold. However, a spokesman for the company said sales of the portal had increased during the Corona epidemic. As many companies have started ‘home office’, the workers are working from home. As a result, sales of the video calling device have increased, he said.
Facebook first launched their device called ‘Portal’ in 2016. It has a type of camera that is able to follow the user in a room. That is, if a user engages in video calling and moves away from the front, the camera will follow him and move away. The user will always be within the scope of the camera when not out of the relevant room.
The user has to spend 199 to buy a new portable device called ‘Portal Go’. And the big screen portal plus can be bought for 349. Both devices will go on sale on October 19.
Portal + on the other hand has a long touchscreen with a resolution of 15 inches 1920 x 1080 pixels. There are also cameras, microphones and speakers.
As I said before, there are two models in the portal. The portal is a device that looks like a desk calendar with a 10-inch touchscreen, front camera, microphone and speakers. Its screen resolution is 1280 x 600 pixels.
Both devices have Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant built-in, so you can do a lot of things with voice commands. Its AI camera understands the movements of the person in the video call and adjusts the frame accordingly. There are also Noise Minimizer and Messenger video filters / stickers and frames. Additional apps can also be installed on it.
