Preparation of your tools and materials

Cut your woods, rails into dimensions. Do your measurements accurately and also check out the size of the door you’re trying to replace. Determine your panel sizes and it’s advisable to have your door oversized so you could trim and shape it into the desired dimension.

Make a groove in the horizontal and vertical pieces of the door

Make sure you cut the grooves in the center of the wood and then do not cut on the edge. Making the right cuts at this point leads to having the four-corner frame of the door.

Prepare the mortise and tenon joints

Getting to make the mortise and tenon joint is not so hard as it is the oldest and strongest. This is just a way of joining two pieces of wood together. You could make use of a hollow chisel while going about this part.

Make a stronger door by using the drawbore joinery

This is just a technique that strengthens your mortise and tenon joints. It helps you build a tighter joint and also aids in making the door extra strong.

Assembling the door

Fix your tenon and mortise joints in the center of the door. It is advisable to use clamps at this stage, though it’s a test run but just uses and be sure it would fit into the space very well.

Paint the door

At maximum, you could use up to two coats of paints for your door. Beautifully paint it and make the edges painted well.

Fix the door

This is the last part of the whole process, get strap hinges that could hold the door firmly.

Then finally;

Install a lockset.
