A book report helps the audience understand how a particular book is by reading the summary of it and its strengths and highlights. This helps them in deciding if they should invest their time and money on reading it or not. Now students usually get book report writing as an assignment and therefore their first instinct tells them to search “who can write my book report?”

Well, today we are going to tell a very easy process of how to do it:

Table of Contents

  • Writing a good book report
  • Outlining a book report
  • Conclusion

Writing a good book report

The most important thing starts with reading a book.

Find yourself time and try to stay away from the distractions. Reading and understanding the book is very important. What most people miss out is that you should pay attention to the author too. Know about his life and beliefs. Read about his personality too.

When I am writing my essay or book report, I always take notes similarly. You should always keep a pen and paper next to you or a highlighter to highlight the important points. A report can be detailed and therefore you must know the pointers you will be including in it.

Outlining a book report

Most book reports follow MLA format and have a structure of introduction, middle body, and conclusion.

Introductions are about a general statement, a strong thesis, and background information on the book. Mention details like book name, author, genre, no. of pages or chapters, setting, etc. You can also talk about book characters and the main storyline in brief.

The middle body is all about sharing small portions of stories while keeping the secret or suspense intact. For creating more curiosity you can quote some relevant examples or instances from the book. You can also quote some lines from the main characters or share the comparison of two characters.

The conclusion is all about summarizing the report where you can tell the author’s vision behind writing the book or the type of audience it wanted to reach out to. You can tell your personal opinion on the book and make an appeal to the readers of why they should buy a book or why they shouldn’t depending on the book’s story.

Conclusion

If you want to make your book report exceptional try reading a few other books and download a few free templates from online. You can read our tips from above and implement them in your next book report writing assignment. We assure you your grades will improve.
