Different Techniques for Body Contouring

Body contouring is a popular type of cosmetic surgery. It is the process of modifying or changing the shape of a person’s body. During the procedure, the cosmetic surgeon removes excess skin and fat from targeted areas of your body. The fat and skin removal shapes or reshapes the body. The most common areas of McDonough body contouring are the face, neck, abdomen, arms, and legs. It can refer to the surgical procedure or using an external device or substance to alter the body’s natural shape or size.

There are several different techniques used in body contouring. The most common ones include:

Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that involves removing fat from areas like the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. Liposuction is the most popular of all the body contouring procedures because it’s quite effective in removing unwanted fat deposits.

Liposuction is used to remove fatty droplets from specific parts of the body, such as the stomach or hips.

Tummy tuck surgery

Tummy tuck surgery involves removing excess skin from your lower abdomen or hips so that you can see your abs more clearly during workouts and other activities. Tummy tucks can be done on both men and women but are most commonly performed on women due to their tendency towards having larger hips and thighs. Thus more skin needs to be removed.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive body contouring technology that uses controlled cooling and massage to smooth away stubborn fat deposits. It works by freezing targeted fat cells with targeted freezing temperatures of -196 degrees Celsius for up to 10 minutes or until the fat cell dies. The process is painless and has no downtime.

Smartlipo

Smartlipo is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses ultrasound wave energy to break up fatty deposits in the deeper layers of skin while leaving underlying tissue undamaged. It can regenerate itself over time, making unwanted fat cells disappear gradually over time without any downtime at all.

Liposculpture

Liposculpture involves using radio frequency waves to heat up fat cells, causing them to rupture and release their contents into the bloodstream. This technique results in firming areas like the abdomen or thighs by removing excess water from within these tissues. The downside is that this technique does not work for everyone because some people may not have enough subcutaneous fat cells to rupture under these conditions. A second option would be ultrasound which uses sound waves to activate damaged cells and cause them to die.

Two-stage abdominoplasty

Two-stage abdominoplasty procedure combines waist liposuction with thigh reduction or thigh lift to achieve a slimmer figure. The surgeon first removes fat around your midsection using a cannula (a thin tube) and then uses another cannula to inject an anesthetic into the area to numb it before removing more fat with suctioning equipment.

Arm lift surgery

Arm lift surgery involves removing excess skin and fat from under your arm (the flanks) to make them more defined and shapely. This procedure can also help improve muscle symmetry in those areas if done simultaneously with liposuction or abdominoplasty (tummy tuck surgery).

There are many different body contouring procedures, each with its own benefits and drawbacks. To figure out what type of procedure would work for you, contact Ideal MedSpas to speak with a plastic surgeon who specializes in body contouring.
