Diamond Pawn Shop: What You Should Know

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but they don’t always make the best investments. Diamonds purchased either as an investment or as a gift should be purchased with care and caution. One of the most sensible decisions is to sell a diamond pawn shop if you need to raise capital.

If you have taken the time to research diamonds, you will have learned that their value depends on some factors: their quality (color, clarity, carat) and cut (round cut or fancy cut). There is one more factor that can affect a diamond’s value. If the diamond carries a setting, including the stones and prongs, then that affects its value. In this article, we shall learn all you should know about a diamond Pawn Shop.

1. The diamond should be loose.

A diamond has to be in its natural form, which is why you will only get more out of a diamond when you sell it. It can be possible that the setting could have been removed, so it is important that you have your diamond in its original state before assessing its value.

2. The cut of a diamond determines its price.

The cut of a gemstone determines its value and, in turn determines the value of diamonds when sold as jewelry. There are five cuts which are considered great for aesthetic purposes: brilliant, excellent, superior-fancy-cut, above-excellent-fancy cut and above-excellent fancy cut or trillionaire cut. If the diamond has not been cut in one of these styles, it is likely that it won’t be able to attract buyers. Therefore, a diamond’s value depends on its cut and cut combinations. The most expensive cuts are the round brilliant and the princess cuts, while the cheapest cuts are baguette and triangle.

3. The color of a diamond also affects its price.

The color of a diamond also affects its price heavily, as diamonds are graded on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (yellow). However, for colored diamonds, there is no grading system; instead, they are valued according to their hue. According to research by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), diamonds with higher hues – such as brown, green and blue – are valued more than those with lower hues.

4. The clarity of a diamond also affects its price.

If you are a diamond Pawn Shop owner, then you should know that the clarity of the diamond determines how much light is transmitted through the diamond stone and how clear the stone appears when viewed from an angle or up close. Of course, if a diamond’s clarity doesn’t meet the specified standard, buyers will not pay as much for it because of this fact. It is important to note that there are two types of clarity grades: VS1 and VS2. A VS1 diamond must have inclusions and blemishes that are less than one-quarter of the total weight of the diamond. On the contrary, a VS2 diamond must have more than one-quarter of the total weight of the diamond’s crystal clear inclusions and blemishes, mainly because these types have a higher price.

5. The diamond’s carat determines its value.

The carat is a measure used in determining diamonds’ value, as it shows how much pure carbon they contain. Diamonds with higher carats will be considered more valuable because they can hold more weight or be cut into bigger stones than those that are lighter in weight.

In conclusion, diamond Pawn Shop owners need to note that the value of a diamond depends on various factors, including its form, cut, color, and clarity. All these factors should be considered when you are selling your diamond, as different factors will take precedence during the valuation process depending on your decision.
