Americans spend an average of 6 hours each week cleaning their homes, according to the American Cleaning Institute. A majority of people (74%) say they most frequently perform lighting cleaning, compared to around a quarter (26%) who say they deep clean most frequently.

But what exactly is the deep cleaning definition and how does it differ from regular house cleaning? In this blog post, we will look at the differences between deep and regular cleaning and the benefits of routinely performing deep cleaning at home.

What Is Regular Cleaning?

Regular cleaning can be defined as the tasks that you do on a daily or weekly basis, such as vacuuming, mopping, laundry, sweeping, wiping surfaces, taking out the trash, general dusting, and decluttering.

These tasks can often be done ‘on the go’ and don’t take long to complete. Even with regular cleaning, it is recommended that you perform a deep cleaning every few months.

What Is Deep Cleaning?

Deep cleaning reached the deep dust and grime within the home and covers areas that are not typically cleaned during regular cleaning.

For example, in the kitchen, a deep cleaning may involve cleaning behind appliances such as the oven, washing machine, and refrigerator, where hidden dirt can build up.

This type of cleaning also focuses on areas such as:

  • Under sinks
  • Inside the oven and refrigerator
  • Window frames and patio doors
  • All windows (inside and outside)
  • Window blinds
  • Bathroom and kitchen tiles
  • Showerheads and taps

Cupboards and drawers are properly cleaned, as are skirting boards, ceilings, walls, and any other corners of the house. Deep cleaning can take several hours depending on the size and current condition of the house.

What Are the Benefits of Deep Cleaning?

Routine deep cleaning helps to protect your and your family’s health. Germs, bacteria, and pests can settle in your home and cause illnesses. Getting your home clean and disinfected not only limits mold and dirt, but also helps to improve indoor air quality.

Now that so many of us are working from home, it’s important that we are able to work in an environment that is conducive to productivity. A messy and dirty home can affect a person’s mood and ability to focus on their work. A deep cleaning helps to declutter your home and keep the appliances you use every day clean. Also, you can visit Eloise’s Cleaning Services, a professional cleaning company that will surely provide you with more than satisfactory deep cleaning services

Regular Cleaning vs Deep Cleaning: Know the Difference

The above information highlights the differences between surface cleaning vs deep cleaning. While regular cleaning is something that is performed on an ongoing basis, deep cleaning is less frequent though more thorough. We recommend that you perform deep cleaning at least every few months in your home.
