Coffee Facts That Coffee Lover Must Know

Some folks can’t imagine starting their day without a cup of freshly brewed coffee. They are so addicted to coffee that they refer to themselves as “coffee addicts.” And we are all too aware of this. Drinking your daily cup(s) of coffee, on the other hand, isn’t always a bad habit. Here is a guide on how to get rid of coffee breath.

According to scientists, it has been confirmed to be healthy. You get more than simply an energy boost from your morning coffee. Below given are some fun facts and tips for coffee lovers that you must know if you are a coffee fanatic:

1. Goats first discovered coffee

A shepherd in Ethiopia, around 800 A.D., first tasted the fruit that would ultimately lead to coffee when he watched his goats dancing after eating from the same bush. After tasting the berries for himself, the shepherd had a similar experience (yes, he danced). Soon after, monks discovered the berries and discovered that they kept them awake all night. They ultimately combined the berries with animal fat and used it to create little power bites.

2. Decaf isn’t Real Coffee

Decaf isn’t the same as “caffeine-free.” The caffeine content in a typical cup of coffee ranges from 95 to 200 mg. There are around 2–12 milligrams of caffeine in an 8-ounce cup of decaf coffee. Caffeine is still found in a decaf beverage, albeit much lower.

3. Are They Really Beans?

A coffee bean isn’t exactly a bean, despite its name. The coffee cherry’s pit (or seed) is what you’re looking for. The bean is taken from the fruit as part of the harvesting procedure.

They’re now popularly referred to as beans because of their form and size, but if the conditions are good, you could plant one, and it could grow into such a new coffee plant.

4. It Makes a Difference What Kind of Cup You Use

Several scientific investigations have found that our cup’s color, shape, and even texture affect how we taste coffee. Drinking dark coffee from a white cup, for example, produces a stark contrast that makes us believe our coffee is stronger. When we drink coffee from a clear cup, many of us believe it to be lighter and sweeter.

5. Want To Keep It Warm? Add Cream!

When you add cream to coffee, it stays warm for 20% longer. That’s something you’ll have to question a physicist about. Cream thickens the coffee (increases viscosity), allowing it to evaporate more slowly. The amount of heat carried away by evaporation is surprising. Reduce the rate of evaporation, and you’ll save a lot of heat. This is also one of the main reasons why a lid on the cup keeps the coffee warm for longer. Undoubtedly one of the best winter coffee tips!

6. World’s Largest Coffee Cup Was 20,000 Liters

According to Guinness World Records, the largest cup of coffee ever brewed contained a staggering 22,739.14 liters on June 15th, 2019.

At the Parque de Bolvar in Chinchiná, Caldas, Colombia, the Alcaldia Municipal de Chinchiná (Colombia) spent almost a month working on the project with fifty employees.

7. Don’t Rely On a Spoon

Consistency and repeatability are key factors in as much as coffee tips as they are baking essentials. It’s difficult to get the same exact amount of coffee every time you use a spoon to measure it.

For more precise and consistent dosing, use a separate scoop that you can level off and keep in your coffee.

8. The Time and Way of Grinding Affects your Coffee

Grind your coffee right before you brew it to get the most taste out of it.

Within 30 minutes of being ground, the coffee loses its flavor, according to experts. It’s recommended to grind right before brewing a pot in this instance.

The size and consistency of the grind are other important considerations. You’ll get a weak cup of coffee if you over-grind your beans. The coffee will taste harsh if it is ground too finely, causing it to over-extract. The majority of drip coffee makers require a medium-fine grind.

9. The Quest of Coffee Led To The Discovery of Webcams

It all began 30 years ago when a group of computer scientists at Cambridge University was fed up with constantly having to refill their coffee pots. Today, webcams are a $6 billion industry.

Webcam inventors Dr. Quentin Stafford-Fraser and Paul Jardetzky came up with the idea for the first webcam in 1991 after countless trips to the coffee pot.

10. Instant Coffee Has Been There for More Than Two Centuries

As a testament to how important convenience has always been to coffee lovers, instant coffee made its debut in England in 1771. In 1910, the first mass-produced instant coffee was introduced in the United States and patented. For many years, the method of drying coffee was mostly unchanged until the 1960s, until freeze-drying was introduced.

We hope the intrigue of coffee tips and coffee love leads you here, with a cup of your favorite brew, of course!
