When it comes to choosing their eyeglasses, men often favor technical aspects: comfort, quality and solidity, but also and increasingly, aesthetic criteria.
Whether or not you pay close attention to your style of dress, a pair of glasses is not like a piece of clothing and you cannot change it every day. The frame emphasizes your look and must be in perfect harmony with your face and your complexion. Whatever your intentions: to seduce, to accentuate your masculinity, to give you more character or integrity, to reveal your personality, know that a frame of glasses necessarily influences the way you will be perceived.
The shape of men’s frames
If you want to go straight to the point without making mistakes, here are two rules for finding the right pair of cool glasses:
- The shape of the glasses should be the opposite of the shape of the face. It is not an absolute rule but it is often preferable to choose a frame of glasses which improves the oval of the face.
- Eyebrows should always be visible. This is where all your facial expression is, don’t hide them! Ideally the line of the frame will follow the line of your eyebrows.
To know what shape your face has, the simplest method is to draw its outline on one of your portrait photos or by looking at yourself in the face in a mirror… In this case, discreetly borrow the lipstick of your woman and don’t forget to erase your line unless you have a heart-shaped face.

The triangular or heart-shaped male face
You have a wide forehead and a thin, protruding chin: prefer frames that are thin, narrow and fairly high (no temples that are too wide). It’s always about going for balance: to counterbalance the pointed chin, the square or rectangular shape will suit you very well and accentuate your character. Oval frames with rounded top edges will also be perfect.
The round type male face
If you want to tone down the roundness of your features, the simplest solution is to choose a rather thin and rectangular frame for men. The angular shapes will give you character, structure your face, you could feel more masculine! Avoid frames that are too small or those that will accentuate the roundness of your face.
The lower triangular male face
Your forehead is narrow and your chin is wider. You can easily try frames that emphasize the top of the face like the wayfarer.
The square type male face
Your forehead is wide and your jaw is strong. A round or oval frame will soften your features if you wish, but you can just as well accentuate your masculinity by choosing rectangular shapes. In this case, favor rounded edges so as not to make yourself too harsh or inaccessible. The always fashionable pantos or pilot shape will give you even more character.
The oval male face
You are the luckiest man (finally on this question!) because all styles suit you. To keep the natural harmony of your face, however, avoid glasses that are too wide on the side or, conversely, too narrow. Let your imagination run wild and choose your frame according to your personality.
The rectangular male face
It’s a bit like the oval face, everything will suit you… Don’t deprive yourself of it, let yourself be tempted by round frames for reasons of originality, fashion or a desire to rebalance your features.
The long face
Wide frames such as pilot or aviator shapes are made for you. They will make your face appear shorter and wider, always with the aim of rebalancing your expression. Some square glasses can also suit you very well. Dare to be original and avoid minimalist and overly simple shapes that don’t suit elongated faces at all. Take advantage of it, the fashion for sunglasses is wide frames with tinted lenses, in a very 70s spirit, that’s exactly you!
