Camera-Ready For Hollywood: Jet Hammond, Miss Philippines USA 2018

“Behind the valley of sacrifice is a paradise of success.” – Jet Hammond’s mantra proved to be true as she garnered stardom and success after being crowned as Miss Philippines USA last 2018.

Her dream of becoming an actress had never been so close when she moved to the United States at the age of 17. In just 3 short years, her hard work and determination paid off. She was crowned as Miss Philippines USA 2018 while being a blogger and an accounting student at that time.

Despite all the glamour and flashes, she never forgot to look back at where she came from. She returned to her hometown, San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines, to give back to the community she grew up in. Jet, together with two winners of Miss Young Philippines USA, donated food and school supplies to a local daycare in an event called “A Day To Care: Educational Advocacy For Day Care Students.”

“Wherever you go, always keep your feet on the ground. Always look back from where you came from and be a helping hand. This unforgettable experience will always stay in my heart,” Jet said in an interview giving emphasis and importance to compassion and gratitude.

But her willingness to influence everybody to make the world become a better place didn’t stop there. After winning the prestigious pageant, she set her sights on the healthcare industry and established her very own companies: Jet Transport and Pacific Sun Hospice.

Today at 24, she doesn’t seem to stop achieving her full potential. After being a beauty queen, she is now busy being an actress, a singer, and an entrepreneur in Los Angeles. Looking back, she has already achieved a lot despite being young. Yes, one ultimate dream still remains: Hollywood.

Janet wants to explore her capabilities more. In addition, she wants to use her influence, creativity, and talent to represent diverse cultural backgrounds in the world’s biggest entertainment industry. In one statement she gave regarding her acting career, she said that “I feel like there’s a need for people like us, people of color, people who come from diverse backgrounds to be represented not only in a stereotypical way but in a more realistic way so we can truly make an impact on the world.”

Artists and achievers like Jet bring hope and inspiration to the youth from different countries and cultures. Success stories like this can really prove that all dreams can come true through sheer determination. She was able to hit home regardless of being a Filipino living in a foreign country. Just like one of the lines from a song in a popular musical, “Immigrants, we get the job done!”
