Most governments have a law requiring all vehicles to be equipped with tires designed for winter. Most vehicle owners use the traditional winter tires, but it is advisable to go for the all-weather tires for your vehicle. Luckily, nowadays you can get cheap all weather tires that meet all the set standards.

All-weather tires are meant to be used throughout the year seasons. They are identified with a mountain and snowflake icon, meaning that they meet the association’s standards. However, these tires are best when used in mild winters. So, what do you need to know when looking for all weather tires for your vehicle?

Table of Contents

  • 1. What Are All Weather Tires?
  • 2. Why People Buy All Weather Tires
  • 3. Who Should Use All Weather Tires?
  • 4. Notable All Weather Tires in the Market

1. What Are All Weather Tires?

Many drivers use these kinds of tires, but they are not the ideal ones for winter. They have the snowflake and mountain icon, which shows they are safe for use because they have passed the safety tests. However, they are mainly meant for mild winter. When you compare them to standard and recommended cheap winter tires, these ones are stiffer, and the stiffness reduces grip in ice.

Winter tires have an aggressive pattern to give the best traction in snow, a property that lacks in all-weather tires. Although these tire’s traction offers more traction than summer tires, they are also not the best to use during summer because their tread compound is not for hot weather. It wears out fast. Although all-weather tires are perfect to use all year long, they are not the best during summer.

2. Why People Buy All Weather Tires

Most drivers buy all weather roads to avoid changing tires with seasons. Since some areas do not get snow during winter, the drivers who live in these areas do not consider fixing cheap winter tires on their vehicles. Others say it is expensive to fix winter tires since you will still get rid of them after winter. Some of the factors you need to consider when buying or fixing winter tires are your driving habits, where you live (check whether the area is usually snowy during winter), and your mileage.

3. Who Should Use All Weather Tires?

All seasons tires are not for every driver. People who prefer not to drive or avoid moving around during winter in snowy areas can use all-weather tires on their cars. If you frequently go through winter but where you live is not invested with snow, you can also use all seasons tires. Such people can save on all weather tires because they will not need to keep changing their vehicle tires. However, your pair of all seasons tires will wear out fast in the cold climate.
