7 Beneficial Things to Do In Between Your College Classes

There’s never a bad time to be productive. Between your classes is the prime time to get things done while you’re up and motivated. Don’t let the downtime take you off of your roll!

Now you just need to decide what you’re going to spend that time doing.

There are plenty of little activities you can fit between this class and your next one, no matter how much time you’ve got to spare. These seven things will ensure you’re getting as much out of that valuable time as possible.

1. Do Your Homework

Getting a jump start on your homework is probably the most beneficial thing you could do with your extra time between classes.

Begin your assignments while the information is still fresh in your mind.

Even if you don’t have the time to finish every bit of your homework while you wait for your next class to start, you can put a good dent in it for later on. You get the satisfaction of knowing that you at least got it started.

You won’t have nearly as much work looming over you at the end of the day.

Plus, getting most or all your homework out of the way throughout the day gives you more time after classes to do things you really want to do.

Go hang out with your friends. Practice a little self-care. Catch up on your sleep. You’ve got the time — you don’t have any homework left!

2. Go See a Professor

Is there something you’re just not getting? A project or assignment you need a little extra help on?

Use those office hours between your classes.

There are quite a few ways your professor can help you out if you take the initiative to go have a chat with them.

That’s what they are there for — to help you learn.

Even if you don’t need help with a specific piece of work, it may still benefit you to talk to your professors. They can provide you with valuable insight and resources for the course you wouldn’t have otherwise.

Your professor can provide you with the best way to study and prepare for the class. They may even open your eyes to things you didn’t know were available like practice quizzes and review packets.

If you’re interested in going more in-depth on a particular topic from class, a conversation with your professor is a great place to start.

They are also a fantastic person to ask about research opportunities if you’re interested in diving deeper into the subject they teach. Chances are they’ll be able to point you in the right direction!

3. Exercise

It’s essential to take the time to focus on your physical health while you’re in college. It has a significant impact on your mental and emotional health, which have their own effect on your schoolwork.

There’s hardly a better time to start a workout routine than in between your classes.

Exercise is a natural stress reliever. It releases endorphins in your brain, the stuff that makes you feel good. Being active stimulates your brain and ups your energy, keeping you peppy during the day and helping you sleep better at night.

Working out is more likely to leave you with a positive attitude as you head into your next class.

Most colleges have a gym or some other fitness facility that is entirely free for students to use. So, you might as well use it!

Otherwise, you can try out some yoga. Go for a walk, jog, or run around campus. You can even follow along to a workout video in the comfort of your own room. Whatever works for you.

Taking 30 minutes to exercise each day is hugely beneficial to your health, and it isn’t something you should overlook.

4. Join a Club

Take the time between your classes to explore your hobbies or discover an entirely new one.

Clubs are a great way to meet new people on campus that share your passions. You can make a lot of friends just by going to a club meeting once a week. They will give you creative, mental, and emotional fulfillment.

Even if the club you join doesn’t necessarily meet between your classes, you can still spend that time doing things for your club.

Most colleges have hundreds of clubs to choose from, covering a broad range of interests. There’s a small chance you may not find the perfect club for you. That’s alright. Just start your own club!

5. Get a Job on Campus

If you’re looking to work a part-time job while in college, positions on campus are the best way to go.

They will most likely understand and work with your crazy class schedule to get you the hours your need. They may give you time to work in the downtime between your classes.

Getting a job is a great way to kill time while being super productive.

You’ll be earning a little extra money on the side to pay bills. Or be doing something fun while also gaining valuable work experience for your life after graduation.

It’s a win-win!

6. Grab a Snack

Food is an integral part of your day. It nourishes you and helps you keep your energy up for your upcoming classes.

Grab a good healthy snack to enjoy between two of your classes. Eating a snack is quick and easy. Combine it with other activities to make even more of the time.

Why not read a few chapters of a book while munching on some carrot sticks?

Make sure you carry some snacks with you in your bag, so you don’t have to worry about buying something whenever you get a craving. You can just grab it and go on with your day.

7. Take Care of Chores or Errands

We all have a list of things we really need to get done but just haven’t gotten around to yet.

Well, now’s the time to get them done.

Do you have some lingering paperwork that needs filling out or a question you’ve meant to ask?

Head over to the appropriate office and get that taken care of while you wait for your class to start.

Throw in a load of laundry and do homework or catch up on your to-read list while you wait for your clothes to dry.

Empty your inbox between your classes by checking your email and replying to anything important that needs your attention. Doing so once a day will make you feel much better.

In Summary

Spend the time between your college classes doing something that’s going to benefit you. Sure, it’s easy to sit around and scroll through Facebook while you wait, but that’s not really going to help you in the long run.

Take any one of these seven things and put your time to good use. Or come up with your own way to be productive while you wait. It’s all about getting the most out of your day.
