Belviq Causing Cancer? Here’s What You Should Know!

The weight-loss drug Belviq has been inviting thousands of lawsuits from patients suffering from severe illnesses due to taking medicine. You can file a Belviq lawsuit if you are harmed by the product and get compensated.

Is Belviq causing Cancer?

Belviq, the pharmaceutical brand name for lorcaserin, is a popular weight-loss drug. The FDA initially approved it for distribution in the United States. This drug works by altering your brain’s chemical signals and making you feel full to help you lose weight.

Doctors often prescribe this medicine combined with exercise to patients struggling with obesity, overweight, or dealing with other weight-related problems such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and blood pressure.

Belviq tests run on lab rats before the release of this medicine in the market showed that lorcaserin caused tumors in their body. Even after this observation, Esai (maker of Belviq) got approval from the FDA to release this drug on the market.

After a few years, a study showed that people most likely to be diagnosed with Cancer took medicine more than those who were not. Thus, they concluded that the longer people take this medicine, the higher their chances of being diagnosed with Cancer.

Therefore, Belviq can potentially cause Cancer. The types of Cancer caused by Belviq are- lung, brain, breast, colorectal and pancreatic cancer. Additionally, it can cause several side effects in the body. They are-

  • Low blood sugar
  • Rash
  • Mental problems

  • Slow heartbeat

  • Dizziness
  • Runny nose
  • Drowsiness
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Fatigue
  • Vomiting/nausea

If you are a consumer of Belviq and are undergoing one of these symptoms, consult a doctor immediately.

Do I qualify for a Belviq lawsuit?

Even if your health is not in danger, you can file a lawsuit on the grounds of putting your or your loved one’s life at risk.
