All About How to Groom Your Pet Rabbits

Who doesn’t like a rabbit? I’m pretty sure you all have been a huge fan of our Looney Toon star: Mister Bugs Bunny. Impressed by that fact or trapped by the cuteness of this creature, we all want a little pet rabbit in our home. But do you know it comes with a certain set of responsibilities.

3 Grooming Tips for Your Pet Rabbit

If you have a pet rabbit, there are a few important things that you know about for grooming your little fluffy pet.

1. Brushing Your Rabbit’s Fur

This may sound unimportant but brushing your rabbit’s fur is absolutely the first step of grooming. Can you imagine having long white hair all tangled up in a mess? This is exactly why your pet rabbits need to be brushed once every single day. If you have a rabbit breed with short hair, you can brush it once a week. Exotic pet care is challenging but you can trust the Exotic Animal Hospital of Orlando But brushing needs to be gentle and thorough. You can buy a nice pet brush and rub its soft bristles over the back of your rabbit slowly. Brushing also helps to get rid of the extra fur of your rabbits. Rabbits tend to lose hair a lot so brushing also helps in getting the fallen fur weight away from their little bodies.

2. Trimming Your Rabbit’s Nails

Rabbits have claws that need regular nail-trimming each month. Their claws may look small to you but they have little pointy nails that can be really harmful. Their nails are very similar to our fingernails which is why they also need to be cut regularly. For trimming you buy a quality nail grinder for rabbits as they are much better and easy to use as compared to nail clippers or cutters. When trimming their nails, just hold your little pet on your lap and let it calm down a little. Then push his one claw out and press a little. By pressing, its nails will come out of the fur so it will be very easy for you to get rid of them.

3. Bathing Your Pet Rabbits

Bathing is not only important for us but it is also very important for our pets. But unlike you, your pet rabbits don’t need to bathe daily. Instead you can just give him a bath weekly. For bathing your rabbit, you should only use moderate water which you know as lukewarm water. Just fill up a small tub or your sink with clean lukewarm water. Add some soap in it. You can also use a pet shampoo as it is better than the soap. Now, just slowly place your fluffy pet in the tub and gently rub the foam in its fur. Watch out for your rabbit’s mouth. Don’t let it drink the soapy water or it can cause various health hazards.

Knowing these 3 very basic grooming tips can help you maintain a healthy lifestyle for your pet rabbits. Just keep them clean and enjoy quality time with your fluffy bunny friend.
