Homework is an inseparable part of a student’s life. There is no way by which a student can run away from homework. Homework in the form of assignments, test papers, projects, revision etc. is given to the students and it is expected that the students do it on a regular basis in a proper manner.

It is very important that whatever is being taught to a child, he or she is unable to grasp it and therefore use it to enhance his/her knowledge. A lot of times, it happens that the teacher keeps on delivering the lecture but the students are unable to understand it. After getting the homework based on what they have learnt in the class, it helps students to know if they actually understand the concept or not.
2. Prepares you well for the upcoming tests
Doing homework on a daily basis helps children to get prepared for the tests which will be taken by the teacher in the future. If you do your homework yourself regularly, then you will be able to understand the topic clearly and only a quick revision at the time of tests will be enough to get you good grades.
3. Helps you to work on your areas of improvement
When you do your homework regularly, you see the mistakes that you commit and get to know your areas of improvement where you need to put more attention and focus on so that you can give more time to the subjects that require more efforts.
4. Enhances the involvement of parents in their child’s life
When parents help their children in doing their homework, it strengthens their bond with them and they get more involved in their child’s life. Activities that require both the child and the parent helps to work in coordination bringing both of them together.

Disadvantages of Homework
1. Doesn’t guarantee better grades
It is not necessary that regular homework will help you in improving your grades. In fact, it might happen that you become frustrated because you have been constantly doing bad at that subject and you lose self-confidence in that area.
2. Restricts the students to think out of the box
Some tutors restrict students to follow a particular type of methodology and do not allow students to think out of the box. This stops the development of thinking skills of the students and they get confined to the walls of only book learning, killing the ideas within them and hence they are not able to quench their thirst of curiosity.
3. Gives less time to students to work on their hobbies
A lot of times it happens that we are unable to take time out for things we like dancing, singing etc. it is seen that students due to the burden of homework do not get time for their hobbies and their favourite pastime take a backseat in their life.
4. Provides irrelevant task to students sometimes
In today’s scenario, it is so many times that irrelevant projects, assignments and tasks are given to the children that burn a hole in their parent’s pockets and are not related to the curriculum in any way. So many times it happens that all the teachers give tests and excessive homework together and students are unable to cope up with it. As too many cooks spoil the broth, likewise, all the homework given together results in lack of sleep which affects the health of the students.
