About Annapurna Massif

Annapurna Massif is one of the most amazing and popular mountain Massif of Nepal. Annapurna mountain lies in the north central of Nepal. The magical Annapurna massif issurrounded by two beautiful rivers Kali Gandaki in the west and Marsyangdi on the north side. Annapurna massif covers four main mountains which is Annapurna I (26,545 ft,8091m), Annapurna II (26,040ft, 7,937m) they stand at the end of the range from western to eastern side. Annapurna III stand individually with (24,786ft, 7,555m) and Annapurna IV (24,688ft, 7,525m) lies between them. Because of its unique beauty every year a huge number of tourists visit this place to see the amazing Annapurna massif.

Annapurna name comes from Sanskrit word ‘’Anna’’ and ‘’Purna’’. This means ‘’full of food ‘’.Nepalese people worship this Annapurna Mount Massif. Annapurna Massif is also known as the goddess of food. In this region you can find Annapurna I which is world’s tenth highest mount peak. Apart from this amazing mountain peak Annapurna Massif surrounded by 13 peaks over 7,000m, and 16 peaks over 6,000m. In June 3, 1950 Annapurna Mountain became famous when Maurice Herzog made an amazing history by successfully climbing Annapurna mount. Annapurna Mountain remained highest successfully summited mountain for 3 years till Mount Everest was climbed.

Annapurna massif is also a major source of several rivers in Annapurna region. Annapurna massif is also a major part of the Himalayan Ecosystem. This amazing Region is very rich in natural resources and you can see such amazing wildlife in this region. In the Annapurna region, you can find more than 474 different kinds of birds, 1200 flowering plants and 102 different mammals. And during the trekking in this region you can come across some amazing bamboo, rhododendron, and oak and pine forest. Annapurna massif gives you the chance to see 13 peaks over 7000m, 16 peaks more than 6000m and 1 peak over 8000m. Nature gives an amazing natural gift to the Annapurna region full of Mountains, Greenery forest, unique places and amazing plants and animals. You can see so many different shades of nature.

Climate

As we all know climate of Himalayan area can’t be predicted but traveler and trekkers can get well prepared for every kind of situation during the trekking time. There are two most amazing and best season (autumn and spring) to climb Annapurna massif. This two season gives you beautiful trekking days with moderate temperatures, low chances of rainfalls and a beautiful clear view of nature.

Autumn and Spring season is most prefer seasons to do trekking and travelling in Himalayan areas. In this season you can find so many trekkers and travelers on the way. On the whole trekking trails you can see greenery of the nature, national flower rhododendron and amazing other wildflowers. This season also offers you so many mind-blowing views of green hills, Clear sky, beautiful shining mount peaks and other amazing views.

If you want a perfect season to do trekking in Annapurna massif than this two season is better for you but you can avoid doing trekking in winter and monsoon seasons. In winter season Himalayan areas are wholly covered with white shining snow. It will be freezing cold over there and there are chances of heavy snowfalls. And in monsoon the trail will be really sleepy and its hard to walk in the path.

History of Annapurna Massif

Annapurna Massif holds an amazing Himalayan history. The mount massifs hold a very important meaning in its name. Annapurna means “Goddess of Harvests” or “Full of Food”. This year many mountain climbers try to summit Annapurna Mountain. Some climbers find success and some fail to do summit but the experience they get during the journey is always amazing. That’s why lots of climbers try again and again till they get success.

In June 1950 the first successful summit of Annapurna massif is done by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal. There is no other successful summit after that until 20 years later. The first American team, which is a women team who climbed this massif in 1978. In fact still the women of that place are not allowed in the region because of the local Gurung people’s extremely held beliefs about the holy nature of this land.

Less than 150 climbers climbed Annapurna Mount and you can find a lot of stories about this region and about the mountain of Annapurna. Some of the best books like; Annapurna- A Woman’s Place, Herzog’s Annapurna- about the first climb and many more. 191 climbers had successfully climbed this Annapurna massif still 2012 with the fatality rate of 32 percent.
