For Toddlers

Most schools base their dance levels off of dance age groups. Preschool and kinder dance classes focus on developing the child’s motor skills. This allows students to learn rhythm through marching.

Teachers start with simple marching then move on to simple step combinations. Children also learn to follow directions and cultivate listening skills.

Beginners Class

Once your child has at least two years of experience, they can start in the beginners class. This class teaches basic dance positions, simple rhythms, and counting.

Level One

This level is for students with at least two to three years of dancing experience. Most dance schools brisbane northside require knowledge of single and double sound tap steps. Most students at this level also know basic ballet positions.

The class may differ depending on the styles of dance covered in the class. If your child is in Jazz class, the ballet lessons will cover isolation and progressions.

Level Two

Level two caters to students with four to five years of dancing experience. Your child will use lessons from previous dance levels to build skills in other types of dance genres. By this time, the student will have mastered alignment and placement.

Patterns for progression, leaps, steps, turns, and rhythms will increase in difficulty. This level will also introduce dancing on more advanced time signatures.

Level Three

Students with six to seven years of dancing experience may enter level three. In this class, your child will learn more complex techniques regarding previous techniques. Here, the student will learn turn-out and projection.

Advanced Dancers Class

This level is when students begin to pursue a deeper passion for dancing. The advanced dancers class often sees students develop artistry and nuance. By this time, your child will not have only mastered the techniques listed prior.
