A BIRTHDAY CAKE THAT FITS YOUR WORKPLACE

In many companies and workplaces, there is a tradition of bringing small snacks on a birthday or another occasion (e.g., promotion or wedding). Thanks to this, colleagues can integrate and feel the family atmosphere. What cake for a birthday or name day should you bring? What to look for when choosing sweets for colleagues?

How to choose a cake for a birthday or name day to work?

First of all, don’t buy last-minute treats. It’s best to order selected pastries or get birthday cake online in advance. If you don’t, you won’t be sure if you will find the type of cake you want and whether it will be available in the right amount.

Besides, choosing in a hurry, just before going to work, you can easily make a mistake. Take something too little or too much, or just make an impulsive decision that you will later regret (e.g., buy a cream cake that you cannot fit. and keep in the refrigerator).

Before buying a birthday or name day cake for work, it is worth considering the following:

Are they easy to cut and split?

Consider whether you will have a problem dividing the selected cake into portions. Can it be cut into more or less the same pieces (so that no one feels injured)? Will the dough break and crumble? Will it look aesthetically pleasing even when divided into small parts?

Also, consider whether you can get enough servings for all your coworkers. Count how many people you want to treat and consider that some of them may ask for more. Baked products by weight are usually rectangular, so it will be easy to estimate how many cubes you will get per slice.

Suppose you may have problems cutting the dough at work. In that case, e.g., there is not enough space for it in the break room, or you just don’t have time for it. Consider buying Muffins (raspberry, forest, nut, currant) or Tartlets (with plums, cherries, and rhubarb in season) by pieces or asking them to weigh a certain amount of Crispy Croissants or Mini Puffs by weight.

How will you be transporting the cake?

The baked goods must survive the journey to work. If you have an hour-long trip by public transport ahead of you or a journey that requires numerous changes, it is better to choose a cake without mass, decorations made of cream, or jelly.

It may lose its nice appearance due to shaking or due to warm temperatures.  When you order from our online bakery, we make sure that your cake will reach you as fresh as it was. You will be guaranteed that the baked goods will look fresh and nice when you arrive.

Do you have access to a refrigerator at work?

Some cakes need to be kept cool. Especially in hot weather and in heated rooms, the cream or jelly may dissolve. That is why cold cheesecakes, cakes with whipped cream and fruit or light dough are better not to buy if we do not have access to a refrigerator at work and they will stay in a warm room all day long.

What flavors do your colleagues like?

Consider not only your preferences but also what your colleagues like. Of course, it will never be the case that your choice will meet everyone’s requirements, so it is better if you buy several different types of dough in smaller quantities than one large. Thanks to this, everyone will have a choice.

If you decide on one type, choose classic and traditional cakes that everyone knows and loves: apple pie, cheesecake, fruit jelly, or poppy seed cake.

And if you want to surprise your friends and give them something more unusual to try (e.g., Chocolate Cake with Pear or Spelled Cake with Cherry ), choose at least a small piece of traditional baking, in case not everyone wants to risk it with the original taste.

Are there any allergy sufferers among your colleagues?

Food allergies (e.g., to nuts), lactose, or gluten intolerance are common complaints. If you know that your coworkers include someone who suffers from an allergy or disease that prevents them from eating certain things, check the baking composition.

Our website lists the ingredients for the cakes in detail, and gluten-free, soy, egg, or lactose-free products are additionally specially marked. It is worth knowing the composition of allergens, even if we do not know if there are allergic people among the employees.

A colleague from work may ask if the dough contains an ingredient that is harmful to him.

Conclusion

If you are a new employee, ask your colleagues how they celebrate their birthdays and simply order pastries that are easy to handle from our online bakery. Perhaps you do not need to bring an exquisite cake and celebrate the occasion lavishly. Maybe a modest snack is enough – Mini Cheese Donuts or Oatmeal Cookies with the addition of cranberry and orange peel will be perfect for coffee. Each workplace has its customs; it is tactful to fit in with them.
