2. Take a hard look at your stress levels

Stress doesn’t just mess with your head. It messes with your body, too. When you’re constantly in a heightened state – rushing, worrying, not sleeping – your cortisol levels stay high. It’s not about having to live like a saint seven days a week. However, if you’re good for five days and then overdo it for two, that balance can easily cancel out your progress.

What helps? Planning ahead a bit. Not in a rigid way, but in a way that sets you up to enjoy yourself and stay aligned with your goals. Think: walking before brunch, eating a proper breakfast before a night out, or just not ordering delivery out of habit.

Small adjustments here can make a big difference.

7. Stop chasing the number

It sounds odd in a post about weight loss, but sometimes progress stalls because you’re fixated on the wrong thing.

Weight is only one metric. It doesn’t tell you about body composition, muscle gain, hormone changes, or how you actually feel in your clothes.

If the number hasn’t moved, but your clothes fit better, or you’ve got more energy, or you’re not constantly thinking about food – that’s real progress.

Letting go of the scale obsession can also lower stress, improve consistency, and help you make choices from a place of calm rather than panic.
