6 Ways to Get Around in Hollywood

Los Angeles is a large metropolitan area, and like any city of its size, it must have many options for getting from point A to point B.

When talking about Hollywood specifically, the district is at the heart of the city, and being centrally located definitely affects getting around.

You’ve likely heard that LA has some of the busiest roads in the nation. However, you can order almost anything online and get it delivered at your doorstep. You can even order Cannabidiol (CBD) and CBD products from the comfort of your place. For example, online sources like KushFly offers recreational marijuana choices throughout LA.

Well, it’s a popular place to live and a popular tourist destination. Basically, it makes sense that Hollywood makes for an excellent focal point for anyone visiting the city.

That brings us to the question of getting around such a pompous locale that Hollywood is. One thing is for sure, the district’s status as a mega attraction site affects movement.

Let’s take a look at some ways to get around in Hollywood.

  1. Drive

LA residents love their cars, and it’s a beautiful city to drive around. You should probably go with the flow, embrace the culture and drive around Hollywood.

Without a doubt, driving in Hollywood will reward you with some of the best scenes, from Hollywood Hills to Mulholland Drive. All in all, it feels great and convenient to get around in a car, but the major drawback is traffic.

Hollywood is already a busy place, and rush hours don’t make things any better.

If you’re renting, you should probably go with the economy option as they are small and well suited to exploration and parking in small spaces.

  1. Take the Subway

You could also take the subway or the B Line located at Hollywood Boulevard. The trains run daily from early morning till midnight between downtown LA and North Hollywood.

However, taking the train is not a flexible option, especially if you’re exploring the district. There are specific stations that’ll keep you within the neighborhood, and they are:

  • Studio City
  • North Hollywood
  • Hollywood/Vine
  • Union Station
  • Hollywood/Western
  • Vermont/Sunset
  • Hollywood/Highland

  1. Ride a Bus

The most convenient and pocket-friendly way to get around in Hollywood is riding a bus. There’s no shortage of bus lines servicing the district and beyond.

The largest bus service is the Metro, operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. And yes, Metro also operates the subway service.

Another popular bus service is the DASH, which the LA Dept of Transportation operates. DASH shuttles are super affordable, taking short trips all over Hollywood and Downtown LA.

  1. Use Ridesharing

Ridesharing is the next best thing to buses, at least you can’t miss them. They’re pricier than Metro services, but that’s what you get for convenience.

If you’re new in town, you should probably just avoid the hassle of guessing directions and catch an Uber or Lyft.

Also, with the popularity of rideshare services, you have more options to pick from other than just Uber and Lyft. There are others like Blacklane, Curb, and Limos.com, which have drivers all over Hollywood.

Side note: sometimes traffic is insane, like the 101, for instance. Be cautious with hasty drivers. In the unfortunate event of an accident, consider getting an accident attorney as soon as possible before your claim window expires under California’s Statute of Limitations.

  1. Walk

Basically, if you want to get around Hollywood with ease, minus the hassle of parking or bus rides, just walk. Take a bus only if you’re hopping from one neighborhood to another, say, from Hollywood to Beverly Hills since the distance is huge.

However, Hollywood itself is a lot more fun to walk. It’s not that tiring either as you could exhaust the area in about an hour. West Hollywood is another story, however, because it’s big.

If you’re going to walk, we suggest consulting your Google Maps often to avoid going around in circles.

  1. Rent a Bike

For cycling enthusiasts, Metro offers comprehensive services under its Metro Bike Hub program. You’ll need to register with them to rent a bike, get maintenance services, and use their parking locations.

Hollywood is bike-friendly, with designated routes for safe cycling.

Conclusion

It’s good planning to think about mobility before visiting an unfamiliar location. At least you get to know what to expect beforehand. When it comes to Hollywood, you do have several options for getting around, and hopefully, this list will come in handy.
