6 steps to better SEO copywriting

Content marketing is on everyone’s mind at the moment – it seems to have been the buzzword for the last few years. As it is less and less clear what a good backlink is and what is not, more and more webmasters and bloggers go on the “content offensive” and want to create high-quality and search engine-optimized content. But how do I create good content that is easier to find by search engines and also tends to rank higher, without the reader getting bombarded with the same keywords?

Good, readable content and search engine-optimized texts are not a contradiction in themselves but necessary for success online. No website operator can afford not to be found via Google and other search engines. This is where intelligent and sustainable search engine optimization comes into play, which takes place first and foremost on the “onpage” website.

1.) Research keywords

Good keyword research is still very important for your blog articles, not just for when you are planning your site with your digital marketing agency or web designer.

Keywords shouldn’t be stuffed in – they must absolutely fit, and the readability of the text should come first.

For example, the task is to create an appealing text around the topic “SEO articles”. A search query in the Google AdWords Keyword planner shows that e.g. the keyword “Create SEO Texts” with approx. 480 search queries per month is also very interesting. It would even have been worth considering including the keyword phrase “Create SEO texts” in the blog article title.

Write good SEO texts with the Google Adwords Keyword Planner on hand. A slightly older but still interesting query is “SEO article”.

Furthermore, the keywords or keyword phrases “SEO Text”, “Buy SEO Texts” and “Write SEO Texts” seem to me to be important here too.

Find some tips for keywords: The search result pages (SERPs or “search engine result pages”) list similar search queries at the end. For example, when querying for “SEO Articles”, the following suggestions are made:

seo text

seo texts

buy seo text

etc.

The search results, i.e. the top 10 for the respective keyword, always give you good clues about relevant similar keywords / keywords – just have a look at the competition!

And one last tip: the corresponding Wikipedia articles always give very good information about relevant keywords. Further information can also be obtained via the linked websites below the articles.

2.) Structure content

As learned at school, it makes sense to create a first writing plan after the idea collection or keyword research. There should be an introduction, a main part and a final part. For very long texts, it is also suitable to create a content overview, as can also be found in long Wikipedia articles.

Unlike classical journalism, the introduction has more value than the conclusion in articles written for the Internet. If you don’t use an eye-catching hook early on in the article, you won’t even manage to attract the attention of readers.

A good structure is therefore also very important, because many users scan the texts: they fly over one or the other paragraph, in order to perhaps come across an interesting paragraph which is hopefully also interestingly titled. Another advantage is that important keywords can then be included in the intermediate headings – this is not irrelevant for the homepage ranking or the ranking of the respective subpages.

And more importantly, a good title for the respective subpage, which also applies to the meta title! The most important keywords should be included in the page title as this is still a primary keyword driving part of the page.

3.) SEO Software

SEO software such as that of Sistrix, Ahrefs.com and SEMRush can help to find ideas for good phrases. These SEO tools display interesting search engine rankings that have great potential for more visitors via the search engines (i.e. Google). At Sistrix, for example, there is also the keyword ideas ad, which gives you good hints for your content

4.) Find synonyms

Try to include keyword synonyms in the text – search engines are smart, and will associated your page with relevant keywords. Variation in language also loosen up the text and make the content more interesting for readers.

5.) Layout of the written content

When it comes to text design, focus on readability and using an easy to read font. Try using a larger font size and something like Ariel as opposed to something like Baskerville.

The SEO text should also be divided into several short sections, with each paragraph containing about 3-4 sentences that really fit together and form a unit.

6.) SEO article length?

When evaluating how long an article should be in terms of word count, the rule of thumb is as long and informative as possible. Typically, pages with less than 500 words don’t rank well unless the website is in a very low competition niche. Articles with 1500 words + tend to rank much better.
