6 Pro Tips on Secure Courier Packaging for Gifts and Presents

Sending gifts to the loved ones on festive and personal events is fun. It is also fun when your loved ones receive those gifts and presents. Although, all that fun can go right out the window if their gifts or presents don’t reach in one piece. Safe courier packaging is something many courier companies are found lacking on. This can however be corrected easily.

There might be many reasons to that. They might not know exactly what is in the box or can take the job too casually. Either way, you must ensure secure courier packaging on your own behalf ensuring gift and present safety during shipping. Read through to find out how you can ensure your gift packaging safety. These tips might help you send the gifts just as they are intended:

1: Always Take Weight of the Actual Item in Consideration

One of the biggest courier packaging mistakes people make is to not take into account the weight of the actual item or product. How much your courier item weighs doesn’t only play a role in its shipping cost. It should also influence heavily on the type, material and other features of your courier packaging.

If you have a retail boxed product or item, usually, you will not have to think about repackaging for it. Most such gifts and presents can be placed in courier bags and be good to be shipped. However, when sending products or items that are not in their retail boxes, you need to be careful.

Courier packaging needs to be inline with the weight of the item to be shipped. Smaller items and things might sometimes weigh more than bigger products. Be sure to weigh your items properly and get packaging that can hold them securely.

2: Use Right Sized Cardboard Boxes

Also, it is a common misconception that using larger boxes is always right. Yet, it can’t be far from the truth. When you use too large boxes for your courier packaging, items inside can rattle big time. This can potentially damage the items packages inside.

Basically, you want to remove any wiggle room for products at all. During the shipping and handling, these boxes will go through rough rides. Even the best courier service in UK  will recommend and also use appropriately sized boxes for each item.

Courier packaging boxes come second. First, you should always ensure from your own side to use the right sized boxes. Again, with retail packaged and boxes products, you might not need to worry. For not retail packaged products, be sure to use right sized boxes with no wiggle room for items.

3: Use Soft Corrugated Cardboard Boxes

Cardboard is almost always the material of choice when it comes to courier packaging. It is for good reason too. Cardboard is rigid enough to form protective layer and also soft enough to limit damage even in case of drops. Also, there are different types of cardboard boxes to choose from.

Whether you have a large parcel delivery UK or for a small gift or present, corrugated boxes almost always are the better choice. Corrugated cardboard has air gap technology that is enabled by arranging layers differently. This makes them protect even the heaviest most expensive gift items.

There isn’t much price difference for normal or corrugated cardboard boxes. Be sure to get the right ones for your gift items to be shipped. These will make them reach in one piece and exactly as you intend them reaching your loved ones.

4: Place Correct Box Inserts to Securely Lock Items Inside

Next most important step to guarantee courier safety is to use machine cut inserts. These would be the white Styrofoam inserts that usually come packaged with retail packaging. If you are sending un-opened retail boxed items, these should be included in most cases.

When sending already opened items or ones that don’t have retail packaging, these box inserts will be needed. Depending on the nature and build of your gifts or presents, these can be necessarily required too. Especially for tech items like smartphones and tablets, these inserts are must haves.

If you are sending already opened products and don’t have machine cut inserts, you can DIY one. Slabs of Styrofoam are available in all sizes. You can cut the required partitions in one and fit it for your courier packaging.

5: Choose the Right Courier Service Provider

Usually, all your effort to packaging gifts and presents nicely can be undone if you don’t choose the right courier. Door to door courier in UK service providers are available everywhere. However, to choose the right one who will deliver responsibly handling your gifts nicely should be prioritized.

This is where personal past experiences and knowledge from your social circle will come useful. Before making that decision of finalizing your local courier service, be sure to read their reviews as well. Only choose a service provider who is known to deliver parcels and packages with responsibility.

6: Don’t Hold Back on Instructions and Descriptions

Usually, you will find a small box on courier websites that needs instructions and descriptions. Also, there will be some option on their paper-based sending receipt. Wherever you find room to enter information for your courier packaging, be sure to tell them exactly what it needs.

If your gift or present is fragile and needs special handling instructions, be sure to mention them. These will help your courier service to handle the box in correct way. Be sure to make your courier packaging as secure as possible for the gifts to reach in their intended shape or form.
