The Best Cleaning Tips for Returning to The Office

Use these expert cleaning tips to make your office environment exceptionally hygienic.

1. Conduct a Risk Assessment

Before you start cleaning your office, it’s vital that you conduct a risk assessment. This involves establishing a plan of action for deep cleaning. Your office risk assessment should acknowledge high traffic areas, assess which additional areas will require extensive cleaning and analyse potential causes for concern. Once this has been drafted, you can start to consider how much cleaning will be required once staff are back in the office, as well as which spaces will need continuous sanitising.

2. Eliminate Clutter

It’s a good idea to eliminate the amount of clutter within the office. Cutting clutter makes it easier to clean surfaces. Furthermore, ensure that every workstation has its own bin. This means that employees won’t need to get up and walk around to discard an item.

3. Clean and Disinfect Each Workstation

Ensure all individual workstations are cleaned and disinfected before being used. You’ll need to make sure you have the correct cleaning products beforehand. When wiping down monitors, keyboards and other electronic devices, avoid putting liquids directly on them. Instead, spray a little water on a microfiber cloth and wipe over the monitor. Cotton buds dipped into isopropyl alcohol can be used on keyboards.

4. Disinfect High Traffic Areas

Areas that have high traffic will require extra sanitisation. This includes break areas, toilets and reception spaces. For restaurants and hospitality, high-traffic public-facing spaces should be given particular attention. All door handles should be wiped with disinfectant wipes, while hard floors should be mopped with bleach. Make sure there are disinfectant wipes left in kitchen areas so that appliances and cupboards can be wiped after using them.

5. Place Hand Sanitisers Around the Office

Ensure automatic hand sanitisers are placed in key areas, such as entrances and exits. It’s also ideal to place a small hand sanitiser at every workstation so that employees can regularly sanitise their hands during working hours. All cleaning products and sanitisers should be well-stocked for continual use.

6. Enlist Expert Help

Whether you’re returning to work in the office full-time or participating in hybrid working, a professional cleaning company can ensure you work safely and hygienically. By hiring experienced cleaners trained in all types of office cleaning, you’ll get help with everything from deep cleaning your work environment to cleaning your external windows.
