5 Trends Shaping the Future of Gaming and Digital Media

Trends do not change everything in a day. The trend comes, stays with us, and changes us a little every day. Major 5 Trends Shaping the Future of Gaming and Digital Media are given below:

1. Gaming Video and Live Streaming:

In today’s era, gaming is one of the most useful platforms for entertaining purposes. Statistics shows, gaming is on the second most viewed subject on a platform like YouTube. Creators used to spend days playing a game, completing a game, editing, and uploading the record file. There is a competition to finish a game before anyone else.

Due to these factors, YouTube is full of gaming content. Games like PUBG, Minecraft have more views than the total number of people in most countries. Another interesting feature that has boosted these game’s views is live streaming. Content creators do not have to record, edit, and upload a video. Instead, they can directly stream it on YouTube.

Content creators are more than happy with this feature. Viewers also get to watch their favorite YouTubers all day long. So, they are happy as well. Future games will be made to be played on a live stream. Future games will have more audience interaction due to the huge amount of audiences watching gaming videos.

2. Cross-screen Media:

There are no other media that are as successful as gaming in terms of cross-screen media. And it means that the content of the same type is used in different categories or platforms. The movie industry is a huge industry, but gaming is not as successful as gaming in cross-screen platforms. People usually watch movies on one screen, and they never watch the same programs on multiple devices at different times.

In terms of gaming, it has the advantage that people themselves play the game. They use another device to watch the gameplay of the games played by someone else. This couch potato generation will have a huge impact on shaping the future of the gaming industry. The gaming industry will focus on these people and try to make games where the audience feels more connected to the story.

3. Gaming Channels:

Video channel is one of the key platforms that had a huge boost in this decade. People used to be shy about having a gaming channel. They used to be considered good for nothing as they sit in front of a camera and play the game all day long.

These ideas have been changed as time progressed. In today’s entertainment sector, gaming is the second-placed entertainment industry. Gaming content creators are idle of the youth. They earn more than a person can earn in a job. Gaming content creator PewDiePie was once a hot dog seller. He created content every single day for YouTube

Now he has more than 30 million US dollars. Technology has made it happen. Smart devices are now used to create and watch gaming content. Mainstream TV’s are now being replaced by smart TV. People now watch gaming videos on TV with the family. Soon the TV content will be replaced by gaming content. People will watch and place bets on video games.

4.  Establishment and Engagement:

People had TV, radio, etc. before video games. In a world where people were crazy about movies and movie actors, video games came and created their own place. Video games were able to reach the elevation where it is now due to the consumer’s establishment and engagement.

A movie consumer watches a movie as the director shows him. The consumer has no power to alter the story or change a scene the way he likes. In terms of video games, it provides the consumer with every power to change the story.

There are many games where the story progresses based on people’s choices, such as The Walking Dead. There are open-world games where people can do whatever they want. He does not have to follow a linear path as people do in the movies.

So, the engagement of the audience is high in video games. Video games also let the consumer establish content the way he likes. People can play a game, record it, and show it to people he likes.

5. Consumer Entertain Themselves:

The consumer and the content creators in mainstream media live in two different worlds. The content creator decides what product the consumer will get. Most of the content creators do not even watch movies; they just make movies the way they like.

In video games, people are not forced to watch something. Here the consumers make content for other consumers. So, he knows what the other consumer wants and how the video should be constructed. As a result, the consumer finds it most satisfactory.
