1. Apply a Heating Pad

“What does nerve pain feel like?” You ask. Know it feels like a sharp, shooting pain like an electric shock.

Because of this, patients who have a synovial cyst spine should apply a heating pad to the affected area. And to make it more effective, alternate between a hot and cold compress as they relieve muscle spasms that can occur. For instance, apply an ice pack for 15 minutes and then switch to heat for another 15.

But make sure you wrap the pad or ice pack in a towel to prevent skin irritation.

2. Eat Anti-Inflammatory Foods

One of the best natural remedies to back pain is loading up on anti-inflammatory foods. Make sure you prioritize fresh fruit, veggies, and whole grains. You should also add turmeric or ginger to your dishes as they boost immunity and alleviate nerve pain.

Further, add micronutrients to your diet to reduce sciatica symptoms. For instance, vitamin D, B12, and omega-3 fatty acids are the most effective.

3. Stretch and Build Muscles

Not sure how to relieve back pain? Then, add stretching and strengthening exercises to your daily routine. This will heal soft tissue and improve the function of your nervous system, so you no longer experience pain.

You should also consider water therapy. Even walking in waist-deep water can improve your nerve and muscle function, which will improve your quality of life.

4. Have a Massage

Aside from helping you feel relaxed, massages make your body release endorphins, which reduce the perception of pain. Booking a deep tissue massage can also restore the spine’s range of motion and boost its flexibility. Plus, manual therapy kneads out knots and any tension in the muscles.

5. Apply a Topical Cream

Another way you can alleviate nerve pain in the back is by applying a topical cream. These are effective because they contain pain-relieving or numbing properties. Once you’re in the pharmacy, look out for products that contain menthol, capsaicin, and methyl salicylate.

If that isn’t effective, then consider wearing a brace over your lower back. This will limit excessive spine movement and relieve nerve pain.
