5 Things To Do Before the End of Summer

Just like summer arrives before you know it, it also seems to end before you are ready! Warm-weather plans you made months ago now have an expiration date that’s drawing closer with each passing day. 

As September and fall near, you may wish for a few more weeks of long days and warm nights. Rather than wish for more time, take advantage of the summer days that remain. Here are five things to do before the end of summer.

1. Dine Outside

Do you know when your favorite restaurant’s ending its summer patio season? You may have fewer days than you thought to enjoy outdoor dining. Go ahead and book an outdoor table before time runs out. Otherwise, you may have to wait until next summer before you can enjoy a nice warm breeze with dinner.

Outdoor dining is also a great way to appreciate unique features of your city. Historic districts, green spaces, interesting architecture — sitting in restaurant patios gives you an outsider’s perspective into your city. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors to join you. Not only is this a great way to bond with important people in your life, but it can also save you time and money if everyone brings a side dish, drink, or dessert.

4. Go To the Carnival

If there’s a local or state summer carnival in your area, make a plan to go before the end of the season. You can feel like a kid again going on fun rides that get your blood and adrenaline pumping. Carnivals also offer delicious and innovative food options to try, so make a point to get a funnel cake, kettle corn, mini corn dog, or fried ice cream. 

As fun as they are, carnivals can get expensive. Before heading to one, see if there are specific dates or times when tickets are cheaper. You can also pack a cooler with pre-made sandwiches, salad, or cold soup to save money. Just don’t eat before getting on a ride! 

5. Go for a Walk

While you can go for a walk any time of the year, you can only go for an 8 pm sunset walk in the summer. Put on your walking shoes and enjoy a lovely walk after dinner. You’ll enjoy watching the setting sun light up the sky while burning off your meal. As the weather gets cooler, you may not feel as motivated to get out and stretch your legs while enjoying some fresh air. Take advantage of your opportunities to exercise outside in the warmth while you can!
